Death Note (2015) is a live-action TV series based loosely on the manga. There are several notable changes, such as a more sympathetic Light Yagami, and an earlier appearance of L's successor, Near.

Today is the 11th anniversary of Light Yagami's death. Light is killed in the Yellow Box Warehouse when Ryuk writes his name in his own Death Note. This fulfils the promise Ryuk made when the two first met.
