There's a story going around the Milwaukee area about an alleged fentanyl contact overdose that may not be as it seems. Contact overdoses are extremely unlikely. A quick explainer:

Now. This is not to negate what that deputy experienced. Watching the video above, it is clear he experienced something. I respect that and do not discount what he felt in the moment. But according to experts in the field, it likely was not a contact overdose.

Lastly, I spoke with a representative from the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office this evening after bringing up all of these above concerns. At this time, they are "not saying with certainty this was fentanyl," despite other media reports. And test results are still pending.
