@ManuelTHERY @DrFlorianBerger We used Zdk1, which localizes back to the LOV2-mito in ~10 s after the blue light is removed. However, the Hahn lab developed other versions of Zdk that would remain cytosolic for longer periods (see Wang et al., 2016, Nat. Methods)

@ManuelTHERY @DrFlorianBerger Yes - one of the advantages of this approach is that allows us to test the function of the endogenous motors. Only the optogenetic inhibitors are over expressed.

We hypothesize each motor has a specific role. Kinesin-1 and dynein control the direction of movement, while kinesin-2 and -3 assist in long-range transport.
