@Honeycombb20 they overlap sometimes and CAN be similar, but avant-folk's a lot broader while freak folk is a pretty specific sound. i've heard twice around the sun and i agree with the freak folk secondary it has wary of the John Frusciante record as freak folk hardly existed in 1994

@turnthenotison daniel lopatin, aka Oneohtrix Point Never has a pretty cool career, especially his work under sunsetcorp and Games which helped pioneer vaporwave. i'm just gettin into him currently and i love those works by him.

@Splatter05 @vulniccura tbh it definitely can depend on what genres and era of that genre you're into because it's very normal to have mostly black artists on a topster if you're into hip hop but it's not gonna be as common if you're into like, cont. folk or metal.

In honor of Mike Ratledge, I listened to Soft Machine's first 3 records today, very enjoyable and I liked Third quite a bit especially.
