It's been a challenging week so far but we're getting there. We are continuing treatment tonight on each of the 32 priority routes at 18:00pm and again at 05:30am tomorrow.
A huge thank you to all of our teams who have been working tirelessly over recent weeks and even more so over the last few days in what have been particularly challenging conditions for everyone. 👍
Snow affecting most roads across our network this morning with perhaps only the fringes of coastal routes escaping. Snowgates remain closed to protect public from unnecessary risk, where drifting remains a problem. Take care on untreated side roads.
Thank you to all of our drivers & teams in
#Aberdeenshire
who have been working tirelessly in challenging conditions, clearing our network of snow 🌨️. Our thanks is extended also to all hired farmers and contractors who have aided our endeavours.

All snow gates are now closed due to dangerous driving conditions from ongoing snow showers👇
These routes will be monitored and the gates will be reopened when safe to pass again.
Snow Gates - Parked cars❗️❗️❗️
Parking of cars in front of the gates or turning areas at the Lecht and Cairn O'Mount and along the roads 🚧prevents gritter access for maintenance to the closed areas.
Please act responsible and stay local for your exercise. Thanks
A clip from a couple of weekends ago showing one of our snow blowers in action on the B976 from Crathie to Gairnshiel. Current conditions on Aberdeenshire's high routes very poor. Snow blowers will be back in action when drifting subsides.
Unfortunately we've had to close the U64 just south of Colpy. As if potholes weren't creating enough difficulties for everyone, we now have badgers in on the act and undermining our roads. It may have to stay closed for some time whilst they're encouraged to use another sett.
Yesterday our gritter was obstructed at A93 Glenshee. About 40 cars parked on the main road as the ski centre car park is closed off ⛔️Please stay local for your exercise. ❗️❗️❗️
Gritters out on all 32 primary routes tomorrow morning followed by snow-clearing and gritting on side roads where required and resources allow
#Aberdeenshire
❄️❄️Winter conditions Shire-wide at present❄️❄️
All Gritters are currently carrying out treatments. Please drive carefully, to the weather and road conditions.
@Aberdeenshire
Due to power outages we are struggling to contact our duty squads to assist with blocked roads. Please stay at home, but if travel is essential please take care.
Police Scotland have advised that the A939 at Cock Bridge will close shortly with driving conditions hazardous. Our crews are working in the area and we'll look to reopen when it's safe. ⛔️🌨️
Why??...........when the HWRC site in Westhill, no more than a few miles away, remains open. This does nothing more than put unnecessary pressure on our service delivery at a time when everyone's doing what they can to stay safe. 😖
Abbeyton Bridge Update
All works affecting the track completed last night with the line handed back to Network Rail just after midnight - in plenty time for the first train.
Well done to everyone involved.
Good night's work at Abbeyton Bridge. Main deck down ahead of programme. Now clearing debris from the track before moving on to demolish remainder of bridge structure.
Only break the team had was to wave at Santa and Rudolph
Dissapointing and unacceptable the level of verbal abuse towards the Road crews working in Peterhead today. Please be considerate as any inconvenience will be minor and they should be allowed to work safely.
⛔️❄️Snowgates❄️⛔️ at A939 The Lecht (Cockbridge to Tomintoul) will be closed today at 1pm, due to difficult driving conditions
@Aberdeenshire
@abztravel
The A957 Slug Road near Blairydryne Bridge will remain closed due to substantial wash out undermining the road. Diversions are via the B979 Netherly Road or the AWPR.
Road surface temperatures are currently below zero all over Aberdeenshire and will drop even lower over night! 🥶🌡️
Also please remember that car thermometers are measuring the air temperatures. The difference between air and surface temperatures can be significant.
Despite gritters being out this evening, drifting snow continues to cause issues on most roads. Drifting snow on A97 btwn Lumsden and Rhynie, passable with care. A941 and B9002 to Cabrach & Suie Rd not advisable to travel on
#aberdeenshire
Loose end today? - with Spring around the corner, why not tackle your boundary hedge. Overgrown vegetation can present a challenge for pedestrians and whilst we have enforcement powers, we never enjoy serving notice with better outcomes had when everyone just plays their part.
One of the tools we use to monitor the forecast is the live radar. The red indicates snowfall - the darker the shade of red the heavier the snowfall.
This screen grab shows for morning rush hour (8-9am) further snowfall is expected across the region.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like there'll be much let up in the weather for the week ahead with temperatures set to plummet and perhaps further significant snow accumulations into next weekend. ❄️
Over the past 9 days, our winter treatments on the primary route network have covered approx 19700 miles. To put this into perspective - Vessel Anita will have travelled 160 nautical miles to deliver our salt tomorrow:
❄️Winter Treatment Plan❄️
It's getting to that time of year again! Two of our main routes are showing some icy patches on our latest forecasts and will be treated this evening from 18:00 then again tomorrow morning from 05:40. The rest of our routes will remain on standby.
🥳Happy Hogmanay! Lang May Yer Lum Reek 🥳
It's another mild night for the time of year. Road surface temps above zero on all primary routes. 🚚🚚🚚s on standby again in the morn. Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable New Year celebration 🥳
Our evening treatment is now complete but with road surface temperatures 🌡️set to drop overnight❄️ we will be out early tomorrow morning to treat again. 🚛

The ⛔️B9031 in Banff and Buchan⛔️ is closed due to drifting snow. Crews have been trying to clear the road, but have lost the battle. They will try again tomorrow morning when the wind will hopefully have dropped.
Winter weather in south-west Aberdeenshire. Snowgates still closed on A93 Braemar south (Glenshee) and A939 Corgarff (Lecht). Snowploughs heading out shortly.
@Aberdeenshire
Merry Christmas! No real surprises this morning other than what's hopefully under the tree - it's another really cold morning. Santa's helpers will be starting to treat all primary roads from a little after 05.30. As always, for those up and about, drive carefully. ❄️🎅
From 15.00pm – 07.00am we had 25 call outs for our teams to deal with Trees that had fallen onto the road network. Well done to all our Teams for working in extremely challenging conditions to keep our network moving and limiting the impact of disruption.
#Keepingournetworkmoving
Lots of drifting snow out there. We have 32 gritters out at 05:30 clearing the priority routes and will commence with the secondary routes around 08:00. With the assistance of farmers and contractors we will try and get round the network but don't be surprised if we haven't yet!
With water levels unlikely to recede any time soon, arrangements are currently being made to close the B977 between Kintore and Hatton of Fintray. Please avoid this route in the meantime. 🌧️🌧️
Cargo Vessel "Ventura" 🚢is on her way to us as we speak with a 3600 tonne load of salt for our depots. Deliveries🚛from harbour to depots will start this afternoon. Salt recharging is continuing to go well and we'll be at full capacity ahead of the winter❄️season starting!
Tonights weather has affected our road service, and will have a significant impact on our winter treatment tomorrow morning.
Therefore we must reiterate Police Scotlands recommendation not to travel in, and around Aberdeenshire until the roads have been treated.

We're experiencing significant flooding on the road network this evening. Please take extra care on your journey home this evening and reduce your speed.

We are only treating the most critical routes in the morning due to Storm Isha and the start is delayed till 06:30. Furthermore, in order to further protect our workforce, we will only consider attending blue light emergencies. No warning signs will be erected tonight.
⚠️We are aware of some abandoned cars on minor roads. These will be recovered as soon as possible but drive with care where flood water has been as there will be debris left on roads. We will be out this morning sweeping roads and clearing floods and fallen trees
