Says it as it is & he’s totally right on Labour.
On the the Brexit Party; “I have to hand it to them. They’ve had a great campaign, good social media, good events. The roubles have been rolling in!”
Wes Streeting skewering Suella Braverman over Boris Johnson ignoring the security advice to put Evgeny Levedev in the House of Lords. Braverman can’t refute what he says!

Welcome, but major problems:
- some unis/courses are now full
- places were offered to fill gaps, can’t be un-offered
- students will have accepted offers elsewhere & paid accom deposits etc.
- unis are subject to number caps
- unis can’t suddenly expand to cater beyond a point.
Probably unpopular, but...
Labour leaders win from the centre. Corbyn’s only hope was to unite the left and hoover up support from the Lib Dem’s and Greens.
His lack of leadership on Brexit has wrecked his credentials, if he really wanted a Labour government he should step aside.
Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak both slagging off the economic policies of the 1980s and 1990s. Which they don’t want to return to.
Remind me, didn’t we have a Conservative government during this period.

Yesterday I spoke to some Newcastle United fans & questioned why they aren’t “calling out” their new owners.
Most said it “isn’t their job” to stand up to their owners.
Funny that. Most Newcastle fans were quite happy to stand up to Mike Ashley. Now it’s money, they don’t care.
@BeckettUnite
None of the earnings relate to his time as Labour leader.
He gives his time voluntarily to a number of worthy causes
He attended a football match and a rugby match and as a guest and declared it.
How is this at all bad?
There'll be lots of happy Crystal Palace fans if Roy Hodgson is replaced, but I'd rather reflect on what he delivered:
- 1st manager ever to keep Palace in the top flight for 5 seasons
- stepped in after the chaos of De Boer & again last season
- worked with limited funds
@michelledonelan
It is the government that has mandated universities & other HE providers go online.
If learning outcomes have been compromised, it will be on the government & any refund will need to be covered by govt.
@MiguelDelaney
So for 99% of the 3 year accounting period, Leicester City didn’t adhere to the PSR.
But because at the very end of the period, they were in the EFL they have managed to escape any sanction. This is farcical.
This has to be one of the most self defeating steps the government could have taken.
Making the UK less attractive to international students is economically, culturally & educationally a huge own goal of epic proportions.
The government is actively accelerating the UK's decline
@BorisJohnson
@England
You threw them under the bus when they wanted to take the knee.
Now they are doing well, you want to jump on (yet another) bandwagon.
Crystal Palace are set for their 7th consecutive top flight season (and just the 20th) in the history of the club.
Here is a summary of all top flight seasons to date (adjusted for 3 points, for a 38 game season).
Best points haul: 1990/91 under Coppell and worst 1980-81.

- I welcome the steps you are taking to clamp down on online abuse.
But why when confronted with online abuse you yourself have perpetrated did you fail to acknowledge, let alone apologise for it?
So the R is between 0.5 and 1, but possibly close to 1.
We're at threat level 4, but may be level 3.
And we're now ready for Step 1, moving to Step 2.
So that's clear then....
@Jason_Keen
He's worth £80m to Palace. He might not be to other clubs, but that's why I don't think he'll ever get a move.
He choose to sign a 5 year contract on great wages, very clubs will match that.
@KHarveyProctor
I attended the Proms tonight.
There were musicians outside handing out EU flags if we wanted them, pointing out that since leaving the EU their freedom of movement to work in orchestras across Europe has been stifled.
I was happy to pick up a flag & show my support for music.
@ed_aarons
This probably means he’s off.
I really hope Crystal Palace fans give him a gracious send off. Grew up a Palace fan, stayed loyal when other managers walked out & has stabilised us.
If you don’t like him perhaps stay quiet, allow those who respect him to wish him farewell.

It should take you about 60 seconds to read the banner, and realise there is no breach of the law.
Then you might want to focus on your efforts on actual breaches of the law.
Arguably that’s the best 1 hour for Keir Starmer since he became Labour leader. A bit on his background, some of his motivations, challenges & accepts he needs to open up more over the year ahead.

As you know, schools have had to put large chunks of teaching online (at the request of government).
Some learning outcomes in schools, like universities are potentially compromised.
No-one is saying schools should get less funding, why do you think universities should?
Luka Milivojevic has now scored 22

In case you hadn't realised, it's the "British" Broadcasting Corporation. Of course they might cover 1 of the remaining British nations left.
And if Scotland were in the semi final tomorrow, I'd have hoped they would cover them too!

I do hope the new Minister
@andreajenkyns
actually takes the time to find out what is going on in universities & colleges before she jumps to any ill-informed conclusions.
"The current system would rather our young people get a degree in Harry Potter studies, than in construction," says Higher Education Minister Andrea Jenkyns, who says that universities are feeding students "a diet of critical race theory, anti British history and Social Marxism."
The big question remains unanswered in Theresa May's speech: How can there be frictionless trade between NI & rest of UK AND NI/Ireland without signing up to the EU rules? We have to stay in the Customs Union.

No money for nurses to have a proper pay rise?
No money for the poorest families to have lunches in the holiday?
But money for this? Is this really a priority during a pandemic?
Prime Minister Boris Johnson is due to announce tomorrow a £16.5bn increase in defence spending over the next four years in what is being billed as the biggest programme of investment in Britain's armed forces since the end of the Cold War
Great to see

pausing the Free Speech Bill on higher education providers.
There was never a clear case for why it was needed, the legislation itself was confused & worse it would have precipitated unnecessary and costly regulation.
A sensible early decision.

Some of the graduates who never pay back their loans are nurses and social workers. Because they never earn enough to cover the cost.
Are these rip off degrees? I’d argue they are essential and demonstrates why degrees need to be judged by more than just how much you earn.
Too many students are being sold a university education that won't get them a decent job at the end of it.
So I'm cracking down on rip-off degrees and boosting apprenticeships to ensure students get the best deal possible.
Widening access. Boosting jobs. Growing the economy.
If you didn't hear the
@BBCr4today
interview with Gordon Brown this morning, I'd recommend listening:
A masterclass in dealing with a global crisis. Seriously, Johnson would do well to reach out to GB.
Susannah Reid calmly and perfectly destroys the absurdity of government policy which seeks to assess the quality of a degree with how much you earn (particularly at a time of economic challenge and high inflation)
Which begs the question why Jo Johnson (on the basis of no evidence) doubled the weighting of graduate outcomes and halved the weighting of student satisfaction in the Teaching Excellence Framework.
If Labour loses the next election, it won’t be because 7 MPs quit. It will be because Jeremy Corbyn and most of his frontbench abandoned the middle ground, showed a lack of leadership on Brexit and failed to deal seriously with anti-Semitism.
Of course the 7 MPs will be blamed.
I’m glad I waited over 2.5 hours to look at some unformatted slides, almost deliberately constructed to be as impenetrable as possible to viewers.

Impact of number cap removal:
- some unis now about to lose hundreds of students they thought they would be teaching last week.
- some unis will be overflowing with students they can’t cope with,
- and some unis aren’t going to have enough students to be sustainable next year.

Pretty simply - the asking price has always been £80m, and they'll need to match his £120k a week.
If a team is willing to pay it, then fine. Otherwise it's not happening.
Rishi Sunak told us how much of a mess the economy is.
Someone ought to tell him who the Chancellor was over the last 2.5 years.
Liz Truss told us how terrible the economy and education was in the 1980s.
Someone ought to tell her who was in government in then.
