This is key - for too long we’ve wanted US tax rates and Scandinavian public services. That’s not compatible! The truth is to repair our public services some taxes were going to increase. Today we move slightly up the tax global pecking order, but still middle of the pack.
This is undoubtedly a tax raising budget but to put those rises in context we can compare to other economies Here we look at the trajectory for UK tax levels as % of GDP compared to other OECD countries in 2021 Result? Not much. After #Budget24 UK remains pretty average 👇
