I still post here because so much of my community is still here. But I urge you to try elsewhere, we need critical mass in a place that doesn't thrive on spreading hate and threatening freedom and democracy. I'm on all the other main sites with the same username, details below

@_akhaliq A perfectly reasonable list, nothing seems to be made-up. (Blue Bottle was once a good local place, but it was bought by Nestlé, and I don't like their coffee that much.)

@taiyasaki @TheOfficialACM I really like it when journals let you track where the paper is in the review process. (This is from one of the _Nature_ journals and from JOV.)

@quasimondo I think the term “social agent” I used was a little ambiguous on its own. What I meant, and what I now say, is that we care about art made by people, and computers are not people.

So far, BlueSky seems most promising. Mastodon has too much friction and Threads is mostly click-bait. But I do prefer an open platform (Mastodon) on principle.

@NandoDF I agree it's heartbreaking to see it in SF, every day, but it is not a special SF problem. America consistently fails to take care of its own, and red states often the worst. (London is beautiful but it seems you have to be pretty well-off to live in it.)

@NandoDF Maybe you didn't mean to say that the entire city of SF is the most depressing neighborhood that you've ever walked in in the entire world? That's what you wrote.
