I know people who know people, but I don't know much. Montreal Canadiens, Laval Rocket, Lions de Trois-Rivières, history. I'm writing a book.

@EchlStats Would be interesting to sort by percentage to capacity. Basically are these teams playing in right-sized arenas?

What if Montreal Canadiens general manager Frank Selke didn’t convince Detroit Red Wings general manager Jack Adams to protect Gordie Howe ahead of the waiver draft? What if Montreal Canadiens head coach Dick Irvin paid more attention to a young rookie by the name of Ted Kennedy when he was trying out for the team? Kennedy left training camp feeling jilted, and signed with the Leafs soon after.

@MatthewEvolves If the NHL wants to pick up ticket sales for the Montreal games, Suzuki is a no-brainer.

@Uggg_uggg The article I read mentioned that the Ministry takes care of security at SKA Arena, but it doesn’t matter now.

A 10-year old boy, and his father, were detained by police after the son threw his hat on the ice at SKA arena when his favourite player, on the opposing team AK Bars, scored a hat trick. They were held by police for two hours, and the kid may face further discipline. KHL regulations allow for celebrations, but the Ministry of Interior Affairs that runs the security at the arena follows government rules that specifically ban items being thrown towards the ice. When Demidov scored his hat trick earlier in January the ice was covered in hats, so the law appears to be arbitrarily enforced.

Toe Blake signed with the Montreal Maroons in March 1935 to begin his professional career after a highly-touted amateur career with the Hamilton Tigers, however the Maroons were not very patient with Blake sending him to the Providence Reds of the AHL for the 1935-36 season. The Montreal Canadiens, looking to strengthen their defence, bought Blake from the Maroons in February 1936 on a tryout basis. After a successful tryout, the Canadiens sent Lorne Chabot a few days later to the Maroons to secure Blake's rights permanently, or so they thought. The Maroons later tried to argue that Chabot only secured the rights to Blake (and two other players) for the remainder of the 1935-36 season, and that they would return to the Maroons for the 1936-37 season, but the Canadiens contested this and the league ruled in the Canadiens favour. The rest, as they say, is history.

OVG has been saying for a while that they want to bring back the AHL to Hamilton, and that was made all the more clearer with Michael Andlauer selling the no-longer-temporarily-relocated OHL Brantford Bulldogs, which seems to have left Hamilton without an anchor tenant for the renovated arena. The most logical option was Belleville, as you said, but I think that Andlauer is done dealing with the city of Hamilton. Right now I’m looking at the Toronto Marlies coming to Hamilton, leaving the old Ricoh with the PWHL Toronto Spectres. This is mainly guesswork rather than learned information.
