We remember Aliny Godinho. A Brazilian woman subjected to coercive control, financial & immigration abuse, she was brutally murdered by her ex-husband in front of her child. The coroner’s findings reveal how language barriers & bias shaped the police response—Aliny was unheard, her ex’s fluent English granting him credibility. This is not an isolated case. BME women continue to be silenced & denied protection. We must demand a justice system that truly safeguards all survivors. Aliny would have been 45 this year. We remember her. 🕯️ #JusticeForAliny

1 in 4 women have been raped or have experienced sexual abuse since the age of 16. Sexual abuse and violence refers to any sexual activity that happens without consent. It does not always leave visible scars. It isn’t always committed by a stranger. It doesn’t always involve physical force. This week we are raising awareness on sexual abuse, sharing important resources for support and challenging victim-blaming and myths surrounding sexual abuse. Join the conversation today to say #ItIsNotOk . #SexualViolenceAwareness #BreakTheSilence #EndSexualViolence

🚨 Every 40 seconds, a domestic abuse offence is reported. This devastating fact underscores the scale of violence faced by women and girls daily. Despite efforts, the journey to halving Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) remains a monumental challenge. Patriarchy and male violence continue to perpetuate this crisis, deeply embedded across societal levels. Achieving meaningful change requires addressing these root causes head-on, acknowledging the complexity of the problem, and confronting the structures that allow it to persist. Every statistic represents a life impacted—a reminder that we must not look away. #EndDomesticAbuse #EndingViolenceAgainstWomenAndGirls #WomensRights #IntersectionalFeminism #LondonCharity #Push4Change

“It is not just about language and culture. It is (about) having that insight about the nuances on how abuse and harmful practices impact women from Black, Minority and Ethnic communities.” ‘By and for’ led organisations are essential in providing anti-racist and feminist perspectives to propel advocacy and justice for BME survivors. Aasifa from AWRC breaks this down in a one-minute video for us. Comment if you agree! #EndingViolenceAgainstWomenAndGirls #LondonCharity #antiracism #IntersectionalFeminism #AWRC #EndDomesticAbuse #themoreyouknow

As a by-and-for needs-led organization supporting women facing domestic abuse, we welcome reforms aimed at expediting justice. Survivors, particularly BME women, face immense challenges and structural inequalities such as systemic racism and institutional barriers, which often erode their trust in the justice system. While these proposals are a step forward, more must be done to tackle these deep-rooted inequities. We remain committed to supporting survivors and advocating for a justice system that truly works for all.
