Ancestry in the USA ethnic breakdowns using large sample bases from 23&me. Study compares self reported ancestry of Americans versus their DNA results. Only about 1.4% of Americans who self reported as white have 2% or more non European DNA.

I don’t know many people who look at PIE as anything other than a significant ancestral component to the ethnogenesis of Europeans. Deconstruction of this ancestral component is just insane.

@GrecoPhilistine Mainly has to do with the chemical composition of the soil it’s found in which either leads to good preservation or not, same with bones . DNA extraction works best when the chemical environment doesn’t degrade the DNA and if it’s cold and dry.

@cornu__copia I was thinking maybe the Swedish admixture they are picking up is from a more south eastern Norwegian group that was admixed with Swedes heavily. Swedes didn’t raid west much as far as I know. Seems the Norwegians and Danes had pretty good control of access to the west.
