The refinery opened in January last year , initially producing diesel, crude oil and jet fuel, and added gasoline in September. The move is part of Nigeria's strategy to reduce its dependence on imported petroleum products and strengthen its domestic fuel supply. However, securing a stable supply of crude oil locally has become a challenge for the refinery. Once the Dangote plant reaches full capacity, it will be able to compete with European refineries and potentially export products throughout Africa and beyond.
