He was just too humble to emphasize how new and his it was but we get hints we he says “this that I call esse…”
He also distances his notion of esse from that of Aristotle.

Nope... Una cosa es expresarse ex cathedra, donde se reconoce la infalibilidad del pontífice en términos teológicos y religiosos. Cuando lo hace de otra manera, sus enseñanzas pueden ser tomadas a criterio.
