ALMA congratulates @SCJohnson on launching a new manufacturing line for Guardian™ spatial repellents in Kenya! This easy-to-use product, awaiting @WHO approval, works to mitigate the risk of mosquitos drawing near to people. With a capacity of 20M units/yr, this investment boosts Africa’s local manufacturing of #malaria prevention tools, making them more affordable & accessible to those most at risk. Speaking at the launch, Anthony Okara - ALMA's Special Ambassador noted, "Africa cannot continue relying on imported malaria tools. COVID exposed global supply chain vulnerabilities, local production is critical for long-term health security." Read more 🔗➡️

By end of 2024, 54 countries worldwide had eliminated an NTD, putting us over halfway to @WHO's goal of 100 countries eliminating at least 1 NTD by 2030. To capitalise on these health gains, "we must intensify our collective action to address the deep-rooted inequalities that fuel the transmission of NTDs in the populations where they persist," @SoceFallBirima.

As global leaders gather at the #WorldEconomicForum to address pressing global challenges, they must prioritise decisive action to mitigate the impact of climate change on human health. In Africa, the effects of economic decisions and consequently rising pollution disproportionately burdens communities, exacerbating climate-driven health challenges such as #Malaria and #NTDs, spread by vectors like mosquitoes 🦟#carrying dengue. Global progress is unattainable while health inequities continue to deepen, further straining already vulnerable populations. Leaders must commit to investments in climate mitigation and resilient health systems. The future of millions depends on the choices made today.

Introducing our #impactseries on scorecard tools for accountability & action! #1 In Ghana’s Mion District, expectant mothers in Kulkpeni struggled to access antenatal care due to distance. Thanks to a community scorecard process, locals engaged health officials, identified gaps, and advocated for a closer service point. The result? A new antenatal care outreach was built! This is the power of community scorecards, empowering communities to lead change.
