Oh by the way - We designed and build this airplane - from scratch, like literally napkin to airplane - in 204 days. Let that sink in. 204 days. The standard here is about 1,400 days - 3.5 years. We missed the P80 record by 61 days. This is the way.
Mk 1 is our second fully-integrated vehicle built in just the past year. This rate of iteration highlights the new standard Hermeus has set for the pace of aircraft development: One aircraft per year.

We looked at Quarterhorse Mk 2 and said fuck it lets out an F100 in it and rip it. Oh man is this airplane going to blow you away. Mach 2.5+ without breaking a sweat. Operational range. Operational payload. Flying Chimera 2 three years early. LFG 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸🦅
We’re also thrilled to share details on the next iteration of Quarterhorse – Mk 2 – which will feature the Pratt & Whitney F100 engine and fly at supersonic speeds next year.

(1/6) We had our Sputnik moment in hypersonics years ago - multiple moments in fact. We’re actually in April 1961 - we had just failed 9 of our first 17 Mercury missions while the USSR had put the first person into orbit. We were behind then as we are now.
Ground testing of our first fully-integrated vehicle, Quarterhorse Mk 0, is complete.
The vehicle was designed and built within six months, and all test objectives were completed in just 37 days of deployed testing.
Next up, flight testing of Quarterhorse Mk 1.
Our march towards first flight continues. Quarterhorse Mk 1 just completed engine testing which included runs at max afterburner. Not too much to see due to the daylight sun, but turn on audio to hear the engine roar 🔊
I can’t disagree more. Rapid acquisition authorities and aggressive schedules are not why US hypersonics development are behind. It’s because we haven’t failed enough.
Defense tech startups need to start taking lobbying and government relations seriously from day zero. If you’re in SoCal trying to get your members attention, good luck and God bless. The sooner you can get a multi-state strategy, the better.
We’ve begun testing our precooler technology with the

The precooler increases the max speed of the turbine engine by lowering the temperature of incoming air and is part of our larger turbine-based combined cycle (TBCC) engine architecture.

This is spot on. American communism unintentionally pervasive in the very system whose purpose is to maintain western leadership - the DoD. Spoiler alert: I’m getting heated on this one.
Innovation needs Customers, not Capital. The root problem is that the acquisition system is unintentionally communist. The problem is not the popular narrative that defense contractors make too much money, it is actually that they make too little money.
