Idk why 6 months feels like such an accomplishment but I can see myself never going back now. My dad and his dad both died from cirrhosis of the liver bc of alcohol. Feeling like I broke the family curse today.

I turned 31 today. Despite all the hardships this year has brought it has been the best year of my life. I’ve been sober for 5 months. I got in shape and I’m down 30lbs. Just really enjoying being alive and I feel very grateful to have what feels like a second chance at life.

We found out yesterday that Tenders has cancer. My wife and I are both an emotional wreck.

After losing 60lbs when I initially got sober I got hard stuck around 145-150lbs for months, then had surgery and couldn’t work out for a while. Just hit 175lbs today and I’m super happy 💪🏻😬

So after a complicated few weeks we just got all the tests back and her cancer hasn’t spread and she can have surgery that will save her 😭😭😭

I spent the last 2 nights camping at the bottom of a 2,000 ft canyon, 5 hours from home, under a moonless night sky and more stars than I could ever count.
I am so thankful for the love of life I have been able to experience since finding sobriety. Feeling very grateful.

Drove 15 miles into a national forest on a gravel road and then off-road to this spot. Stayed for the weekend. Insanely beautiful views & no phone service. Kinda spooky at night tho.
Never in a million years would have thought I would grow to love the outdoors this much.
