Yes, We Did Build That. In Fact, We Built Everything! ๐บ๐ธDear American Worker, ๐บ๐ธ Today, let's take a moment to celebrate the monumental achievements of every hardworking individual across this vast nation. From the steelworkers in Pittsburgh to the tech innovators in Silicon Valley, from the farmers in the heartland to the educators shaping our future generations - you, the American worker, are the backbone of this country. We Built the Skyline: Every towering skyscraper, every intricate bridge, and every expansive highway bears the mark of your labor. You've constructed the very infrastructure that defines our cities and connects our nation. We Powered Innovation: The gadgets in your hands, the software that runs our lives, the breakthroughs in medicine that extend our lives - these are fruits of your ingenuity and relentless pursuit of progress. From the assembly lines to the cutting-edge labs, your contributions have propelled America to the forefront of global innovation. We Cultivated Our Land: The fertile fields that feed millions, the orchards that sweeten our lives, the vineyards that enrich our culture - these are landscapes shaped by your hands. Your work ensures that America not only survives but thrives, with food security and agricultural excellence. We Educated Future Generations: Teachers, professors, mentors - you've invested in our youth, building minds and character just as surely as any physical structure. Your dedication to education has crafted the future leaders, thinkers, and workers of America. We Served and Protected: To those in uniform, from the military to law enforcement, your sacrifices and service have defended freedoms and maintained order. You've built a nation where safety and liberty can coexist. We Healed and Cared: Healthcare workers, from doctors to nurses to home health aides, you've built a system of care that has saved countless lives. Your commitment to healing and empathy is the foundation of our well-being. So yes, we did build that. We built everything that makes America uniquely great. This is not just about the physical monuments we can see but also about the intangible - the dreams, the resilience, the community. Each bolt tightened, each line of code written, each lesson taught, each life saved - these are the building blocks of our nation. On this day, let's acknowledge the collective effort, the sweat, the intellect, and the spirit of every American worker. Let's remember that America's greatness is built by you, day in and day out. Thank you for your tireless work. You are the true architects of America's past, present, and future. With immense gratitude, A.D. Moyer Lumber, Inc.

1,500 covered bridges once crossed the streams and rivers of Pennsylvania. Today 200 remain, and Lancaster County has more than anyone else. Pop Quiz Time: Why cover a bridge? Answer: Not because horses used them. Today, many people believe that bridges during the time before automobiles needed to be covered so a horse would use them. It was thought that the sight of rushing water or the height of the bridge in the air would startle the animal, preventing it from going over the bridge. This belief was further cemented by the fact that many covered bridges are painted red with white trim, much like a barn. The thinking was a horse would willingly walk into a barn. The real reason again goes back to cost. Uncovered wooden bridges have a 20-year lifespan, but if you cover a wooden bridge with a roof, it could last upwards of 100 years. In 1889, Philadelphia-born inventor Samuel L. Allen patented a groundbreaking sled designed for better control and maneuverability at a time when bulky toboggans and cumbersome "gooseneck" sleds dominated winter recreation. His Flexible Flyer allowed riders to steer with a crossbar and rope, offering a safer and more thrilling experience whether racing downhill feet-first or head-first. Initially, the sled struggled to gain popularity, but by the 1910s, sales surged when department stores began stocking them in their toy sections. Manufactured in North Philadelphia from 1890 through the late 1960s, the Flexible Flyer became an iconic symbol of childhood winters, with its simple yet effective design enduring virtually unchanged to this day.
