@ALBandyou So it turns out I was able to snap this WSJ columnist to the point where he unfollowed and blocked me lmao I'll attach our two debate threads if you want to read how I broke this guy twice🧵 Our topics were why college isn't a scam and why any self-respecting male would not have taken the "Brad" roll in the NFL Superbowl commercial.

@ALBandyou Sooooo I'm gonna say that I won because you couldn't handle the truth, unfollowed, and unblocked me lmao how pathetic, especially as a teacher who taught for 15+ years? You might be the reason why our students suck so much ass if that's how they were taught

I’m not being defensive—I’m literally just expressing an opinion. Geez come on man don't be so sensitive. We've been through this before when I educated you on the value of getting a college degree. Meryl Streep is a bad example for this discussion because her rise to fame didn’t come from playing a cringeworthy, typecast role in a commercial. She became famous for The Deer Hunter, where she played a relatable, sympathetic character, not some exaggerated stereotype. The reality is that an actor’s first major role matters because Hollywood and audiences remember first impressions. If an actor debuts with a respectable, well-rounded role, like Streep did, they have the flexibility to evolve. But if their breakout role is something embarrassing—like playing a pathetic, emasculated jock in a Super Bowl commercial—that can define them. Typecasting is real, and Hollywood tends to box actors into roles they’ve already played. If your first major exposure is as a weak, humiliated character, why would studios suddenly cast you as a different lead, better yet a strong lead? Streep never had to deal with that issue because she wasn’t introduced to the world as the negative butt end of a joke (like the jocks were in the commercial). Meanwhile, the guy in that commercial will likely always be remembered as Brad, making it harder for him to land other typecasted roles. First impressions in entertainment matter, and not everyone has the luxury of breaking free from them.
