The Bank’s gold vaults are running lower than normal as traders pile into the safe asset. Dave Ramsden at the Bank on “physical” constraints of gold trading: his path to work was trickier than normal “because a lorry was in the bullion yard” - A different commute than most!

A beautiful day to be locked in the @bankofengland vaults for a few hours. Markets nailed on for a third rate cut from 4.75% to 4.5%. And I wouldn’t be surprised if even super hawks like Catherine Mann vote for lowering amid economy slowdown fears

Trump’s tariff threats on Canada & Mexico risks heavy blow for Diageo’s Canadian whisky and tequila business. Last night Trump gave a 30 day pause on tariffs. Diageo says there is too much geopolitical uncertainty to give medium term profit guidance on its recovery

Drinks giant Diageo says 1 in 10 pints sold in Great Britain is now a Guinness after “literally a sell out year”. Black stuff also more popular in Australia, China and US and investing £30m in St James’s Park in Dublin factory to cope with surge in demand (which doubled)
