This season we’re making it easier than ever to get around town on game day!
Watch now for: Parking, tailgating, street closures, social district, stadium guide, & fan tips

On 2/22/23 at approximately 8pm in the middle of the ice storm Ofc Howard Cooper was at Devonshire and Londonderry to remove a large tree that was blocking the road when a van pulled up. The driver then parked and got out of the vehicle. (1/3)
After about ten minutes they were able to, inch by inch, get the entire tree moved to clear a lane for traffic to pass through. We thank Coach Harbaugh for being a valued member of the Ann Arbor community and helping out Ofc Cooper. (3/3)
To the surprise of Ofc Cooper, the good Samaritan was
@CoachJim4UM
who wanted to help clear the road. Ofc Cooper then gave Coach a pair of work gloves and the two of them went to work. (2/3)
Congrats to Det. Rob Schneider on retiring after 25 years! He served as an officer, detective, bike mechanic, FTO, MFF member, evidence tech, downtown beat officer LEIN TAC, and dispatcher. He taught mountain bike, hazmat, CPR & defensive tactics. We wish him the best.
Drivers: be advised that the coming days are expected to bring sunshine and warmer temps. Please take it easy as you get reacclimated to spring-like driving. There will be more pedestrians, cyclists, and children out - as well as a giant bright thing in the sky.

Do you know these inmates? These two were found wandering loose at around 9 p.m. this evening in the area of 2700 Page. They are in temporary protective custody and we would really love to reunite them with their families.
Recently, Ofcr. Anuszkiewicz learned that some
@EmuFootball
players have been coming to Liberty Plaza to give out free food to the homeless. Inspired by their generosity, he and Chief Cox decided to join them today with some free pizza donated by

Tonight (and every night) AAPD will give tours of our department to those who drink and drive. Perks include steel bench, toilet with no seat, fingerprints and unflattering mugshot. Followed up by a visit to court and hefty fines. Use a sober driver. Stay at your place, not ours.
Alright, A2...
✔️Art Fair done
✔️Soccer game over
✔️Big road projects are wrapping up
✔️17 days until student move in
What do you say we try and enjoy a couple weeks of peace and quiet?
Good news: N. Fifth Ave is finally getting repaired. Bad news: N. Fifth Ave will be under construction for most of the summer. If you want to simulate riding in a lunar rover, one lane is still open. Otherwise, we suggest you find an alternate route for the rest of the summer.
Ok, Ann Arbor, tomorrow's commute may be tough, but we can do this! Let's refresh:
✔️Leave early
✔️ Clear ALL snow off your car
✔️ Slow down
✔️ Leave extra room between cars ahead
✔️ Disconnect the internet so the kids have to spend the snow day watching daytime TV, like we did.
Alright stop. Collaborate and listen.
Ice is back.
Forecasters are calling for ice storms overnight, thru the morning rush, and into the day tomorrow. Stay off the roads if at all possible. Keep emergency supplies in your car. Be prepared for power outages at home. Think spring.
Sometimes you have to improvise. Outstanding job by Sgt. Kory Petterle and the officers and firefighters who responded to Gallup Park yesterday. They got Frankie out of the water by using a battering ram to break a path for her to swim to swore.
We appreciate you not judging us as we celebrate one of our favorite holidays...

COVID has meant closed courts. Those without tech access - and the homeless - have been unable to clear up court cases. Our officers developed a program to bring the courts to the streets. Mobile Arraignments mean they can meet w/ officers, zoom with a judge & clear up warrants.
WARNING!!! Please do not stare at this thing in the sky. Especially if you're driving. We assure you it is supposed to be there, we just haven't seen it in a while. Don't worry, clouds and rain should return intermittently over the coming days.

Please prepare now! The next few days will bring lots of snow and FRIGID temps. Plan now. Put emergency supplies in your car. Run errands now so you don't have to go out during the storm. Bring pets inside. Check on those neighbors who may need help in inclement weather.
They said “all ages are welcome."
Chief Andre Anderson and Lt. Corey Mills cap off the Fourth of July festivities in downtown A2 by cooling off at the AAFD spray park.
Day shift decided to hold their daily briefing in the garage today. We continue to deploy full shifts and we're here to serve. Do not hesitate to call 911 for an emergency. If you do not require an in-person response, you can call our police desk 24 hours a day at 734-794-6920
Congratulations Michigan graduates! We hope that no matter where life takes you, you'll always remember Ann Arbor as a safe home away from home.

Recent yelp reviews have mentioned the lack of a view from inside our cells. You won't see any fireworks from in here. Please spend the night at your place, not ours. Don't drink and drive!
Due to severe weather conditions, the City of Ann Arbor is urging all motorists not to drive due to extremely hazardous driving conditions within the city limits. The majority of local roads are or may become impassible. Updates will be provided at .
We don't normally brag about our officers' selflessness, but yesterday Officers Rork and Leathers stopped by Leslie Park to check on the safety of the sledding for all the kids there. We're still waiting on their snow angel videos. Here's Rork skipping the running start. 1/2
Tonight's hot action for AAPD night shift: checking on this jive turkey who was allegedly chasing pedestrians. We usually deal with an entirely different kind of

issue.
We send our deepest condolences to our brothers and sisters of the
@detroitpolice

MSU POLICE: MSU shooter has died from what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. MSU Police says there is no longer a threat on campus and has lifted the shelter in place order.
No this is not a repeat from yesterday. Or the week before. Or the week week before that. Tomorrow's commute is likely to be slippery and slow going. Please leave yourself extra time. Drive slow and leave extra space. Think warm thoughts.
Update:
Since 2pm we have responded to 25+ crashes. We strongly urge all drivers to take it slow, give snowplows room to work, and leave plenty of distance between the vehicle in front of you.
Our officers have responded to ten crashes in just the past hour and conditions are expected to worsen. Fortunately, no reports of any serious injuries.
If possible, please stay off the roads tonight. If you have to travel, please take it SLOW and be extra cautious.
Congratulations to Ann Arbor's newest K9 team! Officer Shafer and K9 Flex graduated from police K-9 Academy today and are ready to hit the streets. Bad guys beware!

One patient hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries.
As predicted, there are plenty of hidden slippery spots out there. Slow down and take it easy, especially on side streets, sidewalks, and parking lots. Leave plenty of room between you and the car ahead. We can't bear to see another accident.
3/16/24 Crash Investigation
The 20yo passenger remains hospitalized but is expected to survive. Investigators estimate the vehicle was traveling near 100mph at the time of the crash. This video very clearly shows the dangers of driving impaired and at excessive speeds.

C'mon Ann Arbor! You all did so well in the ice storms. Let's not all forget how to drive after a simple dusting of snow. Slow down. Leave more room between yourself and other cars. Stay home and Netflix.
Meet our hero, William. He's super awesome because he's scraping ALL snow from his car before he drives. He's clearing ALL windows, the roof, and hood. William will be safe because he took a few extra seconds. Be like William. Clear the snow before driving.
#notallheroeswearcapes
Conditions aren't the best, but traffic's been light. Thanks to all who stayed off the roads today. Please avoid traveling overnight while crews work to clear things up. Our officers didn't get a snow day, but we'd love to see pics of how YOU spent your day on

Congratulations to K9 Flex (front) and Officer Shafer (center) on their first successful K9 track! They recently assisted WCSD in locating a suspected overdose victim who assaulted somebody before fleeing. The person was located and able to receive medical attention. Way to go!
We'd like to wish a very happy 4th birthday to K9 Jocko. Although today is his day off, we are told he partied it up like only a 4-year-old German Shepherd can.
We know you haven't gotten much practice this winter, but please prepare for a snowy commute tomorrow morning. Leave yourself some extra time, slow down, clean ALL snow from your car, and leave more space between vehicles.

While you were sleeping: last night officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant on a dangerous fugitive in the 3400 block of Eli. They determined suspect was barricading himself in the basement of the home, so Washtenaw Metro SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Team were activated. 1/3
For the third time in just a few weeks in our state, an officer has been shot & killed in the line of duty. The AAPD offers our strongest support to Melvindale PD during this tragic time.
Our condolences to the officer's family, colleagues, & the entire community.
We are now 30 days away from the home opener. We'll see you at the Big House Saturday, September 2nd at noon. Make sure to follow

FUN FACT: Ohio State has not beaten Michigan in football for 1,341 days.
This past weekend, the AAPD hockey team took on Toledo PD. The final score may not have been what we hoped, but both teams were able to raise money for a Toledo PD family struggling with a sick child.

When it comes to rides, you have a lot of options tonight. Don't choose this one. This ride isn't cheap and it won't take you home. Call a cab. Call a friend. Use a DD or a rideshare app. Just don't drink and drive. Spend the night at your place, not ours.
Jocko is feeling loved - he recieved his vest today donated by Michigan Insurance and Financial Services. In this exciting time, we all wish we had tails we could wag! Thank you, Brian.
Their training and interdepartmental cooperation paid off in their handling of a situation in bitterly cold weather. Because of teamwork like this, we are able to help keep the citizens of Ann Arbor safe and bring potentially dangerous situations to a safe conclusion. 3/3

At the Detective Bureau briefing, Barney is reminded of the phrase "If you see something, SAY something". Report suspicious packages, persons, or situations to the police right away in order to keep A2 safe. In this instance, Barney plans on reporting this to the Chief!

Our crack team of graphic artists were asked to put together a map that better depicts our poor explanation from earlier. We lost Photoshop after an incident where "someone" switched the faces of officers and K9's on the department photo. So here's the best we could do.
