I also beg parents to stop telling kids that sports are all that matter and you are less if you don’t play 3 of them. It’s ok to only play one sport to make room for band, choir, theater, debate, clubs, community, A JOB etc. Balance is good. Downtime is good too.

I'll be honest I'm sick of paying an extra $1.55 to attend games because of online ticketing. Don't tell me it saves the school money cause the 1 person who used to sell me the ticket is still there scanning my QR code.

Coaches screaming at athletes to the point of fear & public humiliation does not motivate them. This behavior leads to depression, anxiety and worse! These children deserve better.

Just remember that while you may be walking away from high school (and possibly the lacrosse field) you are walking towards all of the amazing things to come in your life. I hope you make the time to give back everything you’ve been given.

Why do we refer to boys lacrosse as just “lacrosse” but girls always has the girls in front of it?
Why are boys for example the lions and girls the lady lions? Maybe if I start calling them the lion lads people will get it and stop with the lady stuff. They are all lions.

Think b4 you run up the score on a new or weaker team. Next year there may be one less JV or varsity team because you had to look tough. You can still get the win while teaching sportsmanship and compassion to your team.

Sadly I’ve spent a lot of time watching some great players on sidelines due to injury. Some mess around & chat. The true leaders cheer, scream, support, engage in the huddle. finding a way to contribute despite their limitations. They will do great things in life!

I hate having to remind people that not all lax players come from wealthy homes. If we are ever going to diversify our sport we have to acknowledge the kids who NEED to work. Many use the summer to make up the hours they defer so they can commit in spring. Be flexible.

It's time for my annual reminder to everyone that the womens/girls game is NOT the same as the mens/boys. I applaud those who want to make the switch from boys to girls coaching but before you pick up a whistle, pick up a rule book.

The encroaching of clubs and select tryouts on the school season makes me angry. Lessons learned on a HS/MS team can’t be replicated. It’s also against OHSAA rules.

Many deserving athletes recognized. However, I’m sad to see not a single goalie or defensive player on the list for girls lacrosse. The game is so much more. These young women would be among the first to tell you they couldn’t do what they do without their entire team.

In 2014 I took my 4th grader to the state championship games. We enjoyed a beautiful day together watching and talking lacrosse. In 2022 we still ♥️ the game, our lax IQ is a lot higher & IMO she's an impressive player. I encourage you to do the same with your kids this weekend!

When a player lays on the ground injured it is never ok to celebrate or snap team photos!! Coaches and captains that’s on you!! Also social media peps stop playing those moments on a loop. No one needs to re-live that! I shouldn’t have to say any of this!! 😡

Last update,OCC & Licking Co schools won’t pay full increase of $10 a game. They agreed to $5. No increase in 20 years many refs will hold out. They want to be paid like their peers in CLE and Cinci. Many will turn down games this week. Ask your AD where your school stands.

Please note that the issue of refs fees in Central Ohio DOES include the girls game too. The impasse lies largely with the OCC, the CCL & others have agreed to the increase. Ask your AD where your school stands. Many refs will start turning down games as early as next week.
