🚔 ARREST MADE – FIREARM RECOVERED 🚔 Earlier today, our @mcpnews 4th District Community Action Team (DCAT) officers observed a male leaving the Glenmont 7-11 with a suspicious bulge in his jacket pocket. The individual entered a white Nissan Altima which was stopped in the 12500 block of Georgia Ave. Upon approach, officers saw the rear passenger hunched toward the floor, holding a black handgun. When removed from the vehicle, the suspect fled on foot, leading officers on a lengthy pursuit before being apprehended in 12600 block of Georgia Ave. A Glock 27 with an extended 18-round magazine and a round in the chamber was recovered from the vehicle, along with a second fully loaded magazine on the suspect’s person. Outstanding work by 4DCAT officers for getting another illegal firearm off the streets and ensuring our community stays safe. #PublicSafety #GunArrest #GreatPoliceWork

Multi-Stolen Vehicle & Gun Arrest Early this morning, 4D & 3D @MCPD3DCommander specialized teams were in the Georgia Ave/Shorefield Rd area attempting to identify car thieves. Around 1 AM, a suspect arrived in the area in a stolen blue work van. Not stopping there, he exited that vehicle and attempted to steal a tan pickup parked on Georgian Woods Place but was foiled by an anti-theft device. After our officers introduced themselves to the suspect, during a foot chase, he discarded a firearm, but our teams caught him. Two stolen vehicles recovered, gun secured, and suspect in custody facing multiple charges. Outstanding teamwork keeping our community safe! @mcpnews 📸 Photos of the recovered vehicles & firearm attached.

For the last few months, our @mcpnews 4th District officers, a few pictured here, participated in a successful coat drive with help from the Olney Chamber of Commerce, the Olney Lions Club, the Rotary Club, and Karen Rollins Realty, who provided the donation truck in the picture. We estimate some 800 coats were collected and are headed to Interfaith Works in Rockville for distribution. Shoutout to a few of our great business partners for hosting donation boxes: 🧥One Life Fitness 🧥Giant - Olney 🧥Giant - New Hampshire & Randolph 🧥Safeway - New Hampshire Ave 🧥Giant - Leisureworld 🧥Sandy Spring Bank 🧥Karen Rollins Realty Together, in partnership with the community, we made a difference for those in need this winter. THANK YOU! 💙❄️ #CommunitySupport #CoatDrive

4D Midnight Patrol Burglary Arrest Yesterday morning at approximately 1:30 AM, several of our midnight officers responded to an alarm at the Lindsey Ford in downtown Wheaton. Upon arrival, they found the front door shattered with an adult male rummaging behind the counter inside. Upon contact with officers, the suspect dropped a set of keys that didn’t belong to him, and his property was found inside a white ford mustang, which also didn’t belong to him. Our officers placed him under arrest and charged him with burglary and destruction of property. Since we were headed to jail anyway, we figured we would help him take care of the outstanding arrest warrant he had at the same time. @mcpnews

Good Morning from snowy Wheaton - there has been a good amount of snow that has fallen to this point. Help our first responders by staying off the roads unless absolutely necessary. I hope everyone has a safe day and gets to enjoy some of the snow if you can be off. @mcpnews .

We had a great morning in Wheaton today at the Hero’s and Helpers event at Target. MCPD officers from 4D, @2dCommander @MCPD3DCommander and @mcpdced came out strong to spread some holiday joy to children in our community. I had the pleasure to meet and spend time with a bright , engaging, and kind young man who taught me a few things about how to shop! So many smiles and laughs had with all of our MCPD officers today. What the kids may not know is that getting to see them smile and have a good time with us was just as big a gift to our MCPD team as anything we might be able to do in return. Big thank you to our partners at MCPS, Target, and the Montgomery County Police Foundation for making events like this possible. @mcpnews

Good Afternoon 4D Community- In our district and countywide, theft from auto and theft of auto parts is a challenge. A few things to note: 1. Recently we are seeing some reports of Honda vehicles having airbags stolen. 2. In 4D, our patrol investigative section reviews and follows leads on theft from auto cases. Please report all incidents of theft from auto or vehicle tampering to MCPD. 3.  When parking your vehicle, park in well-lit areas when possible, lock your doors, and remove valuables from your vehicle. 4. Overnight hours and early morning hours are traditionally a frequent time when these types of thefts occur.  Be vigilant for suspicious persons or vehicles and report these situations to MCPD. 5. On the 4D website @ Montgomery County, MD we have information and signups for some preventative programs including etch and catch, tiles, and wheel locks.
