Cuban giant owls (extinct) or Ornimegalonyx were, as the name implies, native to modern-day Cuba and were around 3 ft 7 in tall. They were (mostly) flightless birds that relied on their powerful, long legs to chase down prey. But it's theorized that they used ambush tactics.
