Greatest joy of being a trainer/coach is not allowing the young kids you help not make the mistakes you witnessed yourself make or others around you. Guidance for the youth is so important. On & off the court.

Sir'Jabari Rice | Shot Fake Mastery

Daws had 12 points , 8 Rebounds & 3 assists.
Steve Nash | Runner

Coaches bash skills trainers BUT
A lot of these coaches get players handed to them that are polished & ready to win games for their program which a trainer had a role in. (big or small) most times.
Have gratitude that your getting a skilled player instead of raw.
Barcelona | Ball Screen - Pin Down
Love this strong side pin down out of a ball screen. Usually strong side help defender is concerned about the stunt and recover & here he falls asleep leading to tight curl for downhill attack.
Shooting off the dribble is a totally different skill than being able to catch & shoot!
Become really good at catch & shoot first then move on.
Don’t skip steps.

Freshman 6’2 Guard from
@TexasTechMBB
Pop Isaacs stood out at the
@MauiInv
His ability to play off ball & shoot the 3 but also his ability to play out of the ball screen.
The past couple games
@FardawsAimaq
feet are starting to get under him. His ability to keep players in-front of him off switches was impressive last night.
Also he has shown he is a 3 level scorer. Being able to score inside / out.
@JonRothstein
@franfraschilla
Young players get bored of the basics. They love the fancy drills. That will be there biggest downfall as a player.
You have to love the basics. Build a solid foundation first.

These camps with 100’s of players for young kids ran by big platforms are not for development & rarely to gain exposure.
Get in the gym & get to work.
What are your thoughts on this?
Damian Lillard is one of the best at getting into his shot coming off BS with such small pockets / window of space to get shot off. He has
• great energy transfer
• last dribble is a quick & hard - foot and ball hit same time
• getting into shooting pocket quick
Chicago Sky | Early Offense - Spain Reverse
• Empty corner opens up flare option & more room to navigate. Also no strong side help.
• Great flow & execution before defense can get set.
Seth Curry | Transition 3’s
•great job sprinting his lane / getting to spots
•hands & eyes up early ready to get into shot / receive the pass

*PREP PROGRAMS* looking for a big who has a HIGH UPSIDE… this is the one for you!
Contact for more information.
Praying that one day kids & parents can look past tournament championships being the end all for grade 3-8 & take a step back from “exposure” & just have fun with it.
You have to fall in love with the game & the process first if you want to have long term development.
A lot of these younger players don’t need club / aau basketball. They need the foundational development work first.
If your foundation weak… things start to fall apart!
Marathon over sprint.
Behind The Back Crossover |
@JCrossover
Jamal had one of the best behind the back crossovers ever… which he used to
•change direction - speed stop
•ball screen set ups - reject & keep defender off balance
•isolation situations to shift the defender to create advantages
Been special to see 6’11
@FardawsAimaq
expand his game & be able to hit shots from all over the floor. He showcased it all season at Utah Valley & continues to improve! Will be a steal for any NBA team!
@wesblairbrown
@NBADraftWass
@DraftExpress
It’s crazy to think there will be kids at the live period playing 0-10 minutes on circuit teams limiting their recruitment instead of choosing the right fit & letting that ego go.
Training is much deeper than showing these players how to improve on the court.
It’s creating bonds / relationships that last even after the ball stops bouncing.
Paolo Banchero | Versatile Passer
•his height allows him to survey & scan the floor at high level!
•great job punishing non tag man & aggressive stunts

BALL SCREEN PASSING
As
@franfraschilla
refers to it as beating the “Level 3”
Most good point guards can navigate the 2 man game fairly easily in BS BUT the great ones punish the help (Level 3)
Great guards train their eyes to see “all 10
Draymond Green | Fake DHO - 2 Man Game
• Green defender plays high side - curry is a big time threat on the DHO which opens up the fake

The 6’11 Forward from Cal Berkeley has been one of the best rebounders in the country for 3 years & now looking to show NBA front offices his all-around versatility!
Love the inside foot stop more than the same foot / same hand ( punch drag ) seen a lot online.
Inside foot stop allows for
• better ball protection / less chance for a steal
• much easier to get into your step backs
• allows for more effective counters
Dwyane Wade | Mid Range - Misdirection
• does great job selling opposite - sells with his shoulders, eyes, hips & feet.
• gets uphill on the fade - hard to contest & block
• high release point - tough to block
• great ball protection - left hip
Europe coming for everything. Game is played with high levels of half court execution & different level of understanding of concepts & basketball.
What you think?
