NHL has considered allowing teams to carry three goalies. I assume after last night this will become reality soon. The player would make 50 or 60k to travel and be a practice goalie. Compared to ECHL salary when a high end goalie gets 900 to 1000 a week.

Interesting story the Southwest Bantam 1 team drives from Souris and Southwest area in minus 30 temps to play a game in Winnipeg.... the league didn’t schedule refs or timekeepers and says “no contest”. Can you imagine if things were reversed.

Interesting NCAA D1 Hockey development.
The NCAA has entered into a settlement of a lawsuit that caps the number of rostered players at D1 schools. The cap for hockey is 26, which means that D1 teams may no longer be able to carry walk-on players.

CHFA Hockey has assembled our 20 top Junior Leagues in North America ( we did not include Major Junior ). These leagues are selected by the opportunity for NCAA D1 and D3 scholarships. KIJHL is perhaps ranked high but they have lots of NCAA D3 attention.

Does the player have the funds to attend school what are his grades and just because he played 10 games for the Regina Pats doesn’t mean he is good enough for NCAA.

Tentative plans if the BCHL leave Hockey Canada each team will be allowed 11 imports from Europe and USA. Plus also two new American franchises in the future. The BCHL would really challenge the USHL as the top league to send players to NCAA D1

ECHL update for Newfoundland Growlers as the team is in bad financial shape. The same owner controls Three Rivers they gave the city a cheque for 625k today to pay part of the debt. Three Rivers may continue and finish the year however Newfoundland could cease operations.
