Our paper on the structure and binding of anticonvulsants to SV2A and SV2B is online: congratulations to Anshu Mittal and Matt Martin and our collaborators Peter Horanyi @pshoranyi and the rest of the team at UCB Pharma!

@SynBio1 We use the owl system and 3D printed a box to cast gels. Slightly better than tape

@yuqirose @ucsd_cse I too get many of these applications. Fortunately grad studies and our program will waive the application fee if they ask.

@Brixius_Simone I told my lab that I may not be in the lab in the morning and that I would completely understand if they were not either.

@zenbrainest Many of us were taught to do this for a good reason..why are they publicly searchable? Just make prereleases private and labs won't do this nonsense.

@klausenhauser @AlexGuseman We do 2L flasks all the time. Never tried larger cultures but I am sure it would be ok.

@klausenhauser @AlexGuseman It's fine against wetness. We have had the same grip mats in our humidifier incubator for several years. It just gives a bit of friction so the culture stays on the platform.

@klausenhauser @AlexGuseman It's not sticky like the Infors mat so you will need a few hundred ml of weight so it doesn't fall off.

@klausenhauser Right that might cause some problems. It is essential to know the exact composition of what you are working with..

@klausenhauser Streptactin and Streptactin XT sequences are known. You can make them in the lab in large quantities and your own resin. Works just as well, this is what we do. Desthiobiotin is $$ but biotin is cheap so XT homemade resin is nice.

@ATinyGreenCell @NEBiolabs We once had a tube of DpnI that someone forgot in a freezer that had been defrosted. It was at RT for about 2 weeks. Still worked well 😁. Get a new shipment but I wouldn't be surprised if they are just fine.
