You were still able to get there easy enough or just turn up then do the paperwork without fear of being stuck there or unable to leave till it was done. I had to spend 6 weeks in the uk first applying. Then in Spain for 4m’s

As someone who travels more than you I’ve had to obtain a visa - so tonnes of applications and a process that took 6 months in total for something we didn’t need before. So that’s a negative for me personally.

Even that alone is an inconvenience you didn’t have before. Once you hit that you are locked out of Schengen a vast area right on your doorstep
