@BillVigus @rabbriansamuel Is your position that Jesus fulfilled the ceremonial law but not the moral law?

@BillVigus @rabbriansamuel No, Jesus taught this same thing that Paul did when He said that new wine needs new wine skins.

@BillVigus @rabbriansamuel From context the Pharisees were accusing Jesus’ disciples of being unclean because they didn’t wash their hands but Jesus refutes them and then generalizes to all foods that might cause uncleanness.

@jblackpost @Uncommonsince76 Wrong. Christian colonization was done with good intentions and had a strong positive net benefit for the colonies, as intended.

His primary point was that God cared more about a clean heart than a clean body. But in making his primary point a secondary, subtle point that Jesus was implying, that I’m not sure anyone including the disciples understood until the Spirit revealed it to them later, was that foods didn’t make you clean or unclean at all - in other words, that food had nothing to do with spirituality. In other words, all foods are ok to eat and in that sense they are “clean”.

@__IamK @rabbriansamuel Scriptures teach in multiple places that the law has changed because the old covenant passed away now that the New Covenant (and the law of Christ) has come. Hebrews 7, Hebrews 8, Galatians 3, Romans 7, 1 Cor. 9:20-22, Etc.

@BillVigus @rabbriansamuel All the things of the law of Moses have been fulfilled. As Paul states in Romans 7.

@BillVigus @rabbriansamuel I was trying to briefly show that your argument that there wasn’t outrage was false.

@BillVigus @rabbriansamuel Until all is fulfilled. It was fulfilled with Jesus death and resurrection.

@BillVigus @rabbriansamuel No I have always been saying that Peter realized the significance of Jesus’ words after the New Covenant had been established.

Jesus perfectly obeyed the Law of Moses, and he never taught his contemporaries not to follow it because they were still under that covenant until He inaugurated the New Covenant with His death and resurrection. But every time God inaugurated a different covenant He either added or removed laws. Adam could only eat plants. Noah could eat all things. Abraham was required to circumcise. Sinai Covenant added many laws. New Covenant added and changed many laws. That’s why Hebrews 7 says when there is a change in priesthood there is a change in the law. All laws under all covenants are consistent with God’s character but that doesn’t mean they all apply today.
