I’d just like to say that I have had the most amazing amount of support from people over my 11 years in coaching. People that have shaped the person and coach I am today. That’s the key, support. Tonight I was officially signed off as a UEFA A Licence coach. Feeling blessed.
I would just like to recognise the incredible work by all
@FleetSpurs
to get their pitch looking like this.. cost, weather, labour and commitment to get to this stage!
I have waited months to say this (just being honest).. that’s a wrap on this season. I am comfortable in admitting that it’s been my most difficult both personally and professionally since I started coaching. Time for rest and recuperation. To all I spent it with, love you all ❤️
Really nice to have been part of that today.. doing what felt like officially winning for Shelagh at Kennels Lane.
That one truly was for you Shelagh ❤️💙
Everyone did you proud.
Teach players to control themselves emotionally. Undervalued and under-coached. Questioning referee decisions, arguing with opposing players and reacting to the good/bad moments during a game only lead to a loss of self-control and a decline in individual/team performance.
Imagine being 11 years old and turning up to this on Saturday morning 😍
@blfccommunity
@BadshotLeaColts
you should be proud of what you offer your players!
Yesterday was a proud day for me. Seeing Vita Football take part in its first ever competitive fixture at the Gothia Cup in the B16 age group. To top it off, the boys beat a strong GIF Nike side! The boys have already been a credit to themselves and their parents!
For you, Shelagh ❤️💙
The loveliest of ladies and the truest of football people.
Your presence and impact on everyone that knew you will be sincerely missed..
Give the Level 2 (UEFA C) back to the county FA’s and run 4/5 courses a season. Also re-establish it on 16-19 programmes. Players on a full-time training programme are surely good candidates for such qualification.
The result wasn’t to be today and we’re disappointed.. however, there are some real positives in terms of opportunities for young players and the community!
Aged 16 (Year 11) - 3
Aged 16 (College) - 1
Aged 17 - 1
Aged 18 - 1
Aged 19 - 4
Aged 20 - 24 - 6
@FleetSpurs
One of my proudest moments in football came last week when I had the opportunity to interview Matt Le Tissier. A fantastic insight into the life of a Southampton, England and Premier League legend. I loved this little gem, so wanted to share it with you all!
I’ve never been more comfortable in the belief that my role in supporting young people is about helping them to develop key life skills. Winning games of football will NEVER be more important to me than that.
I’ve just stumbled across this incredible young man! I won’t spoil the surprise of learning how much he’s raised - just click on his JustGiving page! Great work Max, you’re a hero!
With that, the season is over. Possibly the most difficult footballing challenge I’ve faced but perhaps the one I’ve learnt the most from - in many different ways. Truly my best and most humbling struggle to date. Lot of respect for the Wessex League though, not bad that.
I’d be really keen to talk with anyone interested in supporting the management of a Step 6 football club playing in the Wessex First Division. Retweets appreciated.
I will never understand the 'pride' people take in making people throw up in pre-season.. Get your programming right and adjust it for the vast variation in fitness levels. Imagine a fun, periodised, tactically driven pre-season 🤤🤤🤤
Can I just say, I visited
@PTFCTheRams
this afternoon with
@FleetSpurs
and whilst the result didn’t go our way, I can’t speak highly enough of the football club. Good people everywhere. Made to feel welcome, excellent coaching from Joe and his team and top hospitality. Thank you!
I am looking to add some paid coaching hours to my current working week, preferably on a Monday, Tuesday or a Thursday evening. Located in Fleet, Hampshire. UEFA A Licenced. Full driving licence.
Retweets appreciated - please feel free to contact me directly.
How you behave and care for young players will directly affect their self-esteem, mental health and overall emotional well-being.. don’t be that guy. Treat your players with respect.
I could say a lot of things about the coaches at
@FleetSpursDev
but I want to simply say that we have some truly good people. The environment I see them create on a daily basis for young people is extraordinary. Their time, their money and their passion to support young people.
What words are the right words to describe John and his colossal impact on a football club and it’s community. Players young and old will have nothing but fond memories of a true gentleman and stalwart of non-league football. Thanks for everything, John 💙❤️
🔵🔴 It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of one of our own, John Porter, who died peacefully last night
We send sincere condolences to Kathy Porter, all his family & friends.
His enthusiasm and commitment to the club will be sorely missed
RIP John
Let’s celebrate the success of a local boy this evening in Boyd Beacroft. The hardest working young man I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. Still only a year 11! You should be incredibly proud of yourself tonight 👍🏼
£228 for two hours on a local astroturf pitch (I won’t name names).. off peak, junior side using it, all players live local - just climb the fence then lads 🤷🏽♂️ top facilities sitting empty because nobody can afford them!!! SHAME.
It’s game day for the
@AShotSchoolsFA
U13’s! What a huge achievement and prospect for these young people. It’s an absolute pleasure to support them today and to support the fantastic association that is the Aldershot and Farnborough Schools Association!
Breaking news from
@AShotSchoolsFA
for the 2020-21 season, we are still short of a management team at U15, a knowledge of the local scene and clubs would be highly advantageous for this talented squad!
The most destructive thing for me mentally over the years has been trying to be somebody I’m not. Talking a way, acting a way, dressing a way. All to be somebody else’s reality. Personal identity should be a key learning in the education system.
Anyone want some free coaching for an advertising board around your ground? Looking to commit coaching hours to a club in return for some pitchside advertisement. Shout me for info! Retweets appreciated 🙏🏼
@vitaftbl
Today I felt well and truly valued. To every single person that sent me a kind, heartfelt message.. I thank you. I am so incredibly grateful to have a such a large and diverse family (whether blood or not). You are all truly family members to me and I can’t thank you enough!

This evening I sat down with
@CllrSteveF
to talk about supporting the young people of Fleet. Our aim is to hear the voices of our young people, establish youth leadership in the area and ultimately create actions over words. Let’s empower our young people!
Just a thought (and a reminder).. winning and losing football games isn’t that important. Supporting the lives of young men through thick and thin is. Real life stuff.
I’ve always been intrigued by how much people change when a football is kicked. It’s like for 90 minutes it’s aceptable to be your worst self with no accountability. 1%.
I love what I do.. my family (blood and non-blood) is what motivates me more every day. The environment around me makes me want to be better every day. Get your environment right and you’ll be happy.. I promise.
Couldn’t think of a more deserving club locally than Badshot Lea. Hard work, perseverance and progression. Achieved organically with a true identity underpinning their success. Well done to all involved 👏🏽
If you haven’t been down to Badshot Lea yet then you must. A tremendous amount of work has gone into building a great ground and a fantastic footballing environment. Well done guys!
A couple of additional jobs done at the ground today . Clubhouse cleaned , three signs put up in the stands and also the
@FootballFoundtn
@CommonsDCMS
pitchside sign is up
New kits ready,new tracksuits,new polos and of course new league matchballs ready
Anyone fancy a game?
A busy 24 hours ahead -
@CtfcU18
Hants Cup final at Havant and
@AShotSchoolsFA
finals day at Stoke City which features our U13 and U14 groups. Some more great experiences! Best wishes to everyone involved.
For the coaches then… I assume you all 'at least' acknowledge the opposition staff before, during or after a game right? And I mean from U6’s to Premier League. Or does being a decent human being not make you look like the tactical, expert, specialist that you are?
I personally don’t think I’ve ever questioned a physiotherapist/medic (could be wrong). Today is another reminder why I will NEVER question a physiotherapist/medic.
A great afternoon chatting with
@ranil
and
@CllrSteveF
about youth engagement in Hart. A brilliant start point, but lots of hard work is now ahead of us to turn talk into action. Watch this space!! Thank you both for your time and engagement.
Stop stealing the struggle off kids.. let them fail, get it wrong, make mistakes etc. We all talk a good game then instantly pull them out of any type of failure - just be there to support the struggle when it does happen!
Referee didn’t put a foot wrong all night, huge credit to him and his team. Brave but fair decision at the end with player safety paramount. Huge amount of credit must go to
@BLFC1907
for that pitch which held off what felt like a months rain 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Update:
With 5 minutes left of the 90’ the ref has abandoned the game due to a waterlogged pitch with the young shots leading 2-1
A frustrating end of what should have been a positive evening
🔴🔵
A great training camp in Valencia with our U19 group
@GPSoccerUK
🔵 an opportunity for some warm weather, training and games. Also a great opportunity to further strengthen our relationship with partners
@valenciacf_en
@valenciacf
"I’m missing players today".. that phrase before a game says to me nothing but a lack of trust in the squad and the individual qualities of the players.. why are we so afraid to lose? Especially in youth football.
Overtraining and ultimately overloading is a huge issue in youth football for players aged 13-18. Players are playing more than ever and resting less than ever. Education needs to be in place for players, parents and their coaches!
The two most important things to me in my job are 1) my reputation 2) my relationships with people - winning games of football will never be more important than that. Priorities.
If football has taught me anything over the years, it’s to enjoy and appreciate the role you’re in and it’s successes and failures. Enjoy the good moments, don’t get too low on the bad moments. The only certainty is change after all.
We’ve become obsessed with 'scanning', 'half spaces', 'counter press'.. well designed instagram accounts, detailed session plans.. BUT we’ve forgot the basics - be a good person, add value, be patient and learn from others.. after all it’s a marathon not a sprint 🏃🏻♂️
Delighted to support such a great charity. This effort is across the board and everyone from the staff to the students are coming together to do their bit! Anything you can do to support - even if it’s running with us or sharing our video.. it all helps!
#pulsefamily
I am running 5K every day with my friend and work colleague
@1SamHawkins
to help raise some money for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham who do an incredible job supporting the local community.
If you are able to donate please click on the link below.
Yes we need GK’s, defenders etc.. but please can we keep developing Phil Foden’s, Jaden Sancho’s, Jack Grealish’s. We must encourage young players to stay on the ball. That’s why we must be careful with words like must, should and do! We need to be brave as coaches!
Can’t recommend this enough - all of the work Dan does is highly informative and incredibly forward thinking. This document is appropriate for coaches working at all levels of the game.
For me, team culture will drive how fit players 'want' to be at the start of the season. They’ll do their own bits away from training to ensure they’re physically ready. Focus on the football at training! Nail your principles. Remember that invovles running as well 😬
I’m really looking forward to seeing the U18’s
@FleetSpurs
begin their 2019/20 season this evening. They’ve worked really hard for 8 weeks to get to this point and tonight is the beginning of their journey! I can’t wait to see what happens over the course of this year!
A great night
@alton_fc
for the boys. Played some excellent stuff and demonstrated how far they’ve come. Nice to catch up with
@vicharry08
and talk football! An enjoyable evening at a great local ground! Some great people at the club doing some great work for youth football!
Really proud of the lads tonight. I’ve been so impressed with their efforts to learn and play the game. A great lesson tonight and one that will help them build and improve! Gutted for
@kwayybrexdon
who suffered a broken clavicle in the game. Best wishes mate, speedy recovery!
Who teaches young players 'how to prepare' for a match? Who teaches them 'how to behave' in a changing room? Who teaches players 'how to recover' after a match? - is this coach led? Do they learn from their peers? Or is it a mutual effort? Is this in the coaching programme?
I try not to nibble on here.. but the clickbait, fake news, pub talk bollocks about Rashford baffles me. A young ENGLISHMAN who has done more for this country in the past 18 months than 99% of politicians. Remember that. Actions not words!
I am delighted that Vita Football now has its own space on Twitter.. if you have a spare few seconds, drop it a follow! Any support would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏼
This was a really nice footballing conversation. Conor, a very bright young man with a long future ahead of him in sports journalism. I personally feel honoured to have been asked about my experiences.
I recently interviewed the brilliant
@1SamHawkins
I gained an excellent and in depth insight into what it takes to become a successful youth coach
Please take a read 🤝

for your hospitality!
Academy Manager
@1SamHawkins
shares his thoughts on the 'aims' of Tuesday’s open morning. We provided prospective students an opportunity to gain an insight into what a typical day at Pulse Farnham looks like
#pulsefamily
As a coach, you need to have absolute basics. Standards. Non-negotiables. Minimum requirements. Then accountability and consequence. Baffles me that I see poor standards every week accepted. You have got to stand for something that’s more important than tactics.
@CoachingKevin
@CoachCallum86
Hi Kevin, great point and perhaps it refers to the phrase of ‘coaching without coaching’.. do we over complicate often feeling the need to be ‘seen coaching’ 🤔 I am definitely guilty of this.
Next Thursday our U18’s will officially begin their 2020/21 campaign at home to Wokingham & Embrook in the FA Youth Cup. The players have worked tremendously hard since July and are ready to go! Come down and see us, 19:45 kick off
@FleetSpurs
My first match day since COVID-19 became a thing! Back to St. Mary’s for the first time in 18 months 😇👹 I have that excited/nervous feeling back!
