It will never be OK that a 25-35 year old white man is "a kid" when they get caught doing wrong, but a 14-17 year old black boy is "Basically an adult" when they're accused of something. Pick an age of adulthood and stick to it, people.

@CrispinCowan0 Perhaps not, though I do still engage actively with lots of people online who have opinions I strongly disagree with.

Upping my donation to Signal b/c I bet their serving and bandwidth usage is going through the roof right now and the new users are probably people in fear for their next paycheck so charity isn't at the top of their list

In retrospect, the Democrats should not have allowed Al Franken to be meetoo'd out of office. They could have gotten a progressive and center liberal majority partnership around a Jill Stein and Al franken campaign. Franken/Stein would have been a monster of a ticket.

@electrospaces @thegrugq I had forgotten how much interesting information slips out of having an administration with no practical understanding of opsec at all in any leadership level.

Hackers in 1995: "In 30 years the future will be borderless! Cyberspace has a law of its own!" 2025: "Sorry, this website is illegal to view in your state, and your crypto payment before won't allow sales of VPN products to non-ID-verified customers."

On the other hand, it would be wild if HP brought IRIX back after their shrewd acquisition of SGI in 2016.

@ciphergoth Or perhaps it's just my Outlook; I feel like if someone refuses to pay you until you go to court and the court forces them to actually pay you months or years later, they did, in fact stiff you regardless of whether you eventually got your money.

@jonst0kes Bomb threats scare me. Not because I think there's a bomb, but because they summon dozens of hair-trigger-alert cops with AR's and no accountability to the area.

@nicoleperlroth NASA has had the same problem during prior government shutdowns. Experiments that are supposed to be upkept daily, and have been running for months, get ruined because even though the staff WANT to keep them alive, they're forbidden from doing so - even as volunteers.

@ImposeCost Agreed, but the misery is part of the model. My bet is the workload part means "Your off ramp exists even if your agency doesn't anymore" but doesn't extend to "You didn't do your work as assigned".

@ImposeCost Judging by the current trend, I don't think much legislating of any kind is on the table in the next 4 years.

I can't lie, there's a little emotionally raw part of me that's Chuck in this scene, when I read posts on Reddit about how someone is a Staff engineer or CISO and has "7 years experience in the industry"

@ImposeCost My problem is I'm good at spotting when to dump into a single company due to dumbness factors, but I am way too scared to put enough skin on the line to get rich that way.
