i feel bad for this kid. bro just got a job working with his childhood heroes and ended up being the face of artistic decay under capitalist abuse of VFX workers and cinema.
Francesca Scorsese says her father Martin Scorsese has been hugely supportive of her directorial debut ‘FISH OUT OF WATER’.
“I showed it to my dad. My dad sent it to his friends. I’m pretty sure Ari Aster watched it. I was like, ‘Oh my god.'”

"There might be a public outcry for a while. But then, you know what happens? People forget. They don't remember. They don't care. They just don't care. It's just gonna be another everyday, common tragedy." Fucking horrifying scene, Jesus Christ.
nothing new to add here, but this is truly remarkable. maybe film audiences are, in fact, willing to engage with art made for adults if it's publicized and distributed properly. who knew.
Very funny Scorsese has garnered a reputation of being pretentious when the movie he won his Oscars for is a conventionally entertaining thriller with a running joke about Matt Damon having erectile disfunction
His eyes look more mechanical and inhuman than hers. I'm not convinced he's a replicant but in every meaningful way the film paints him as a machine. God, what a picture.

Dave Filoni says his Mandoverse ‘STAR WARS’ film is going to be a “clamoring of characters saying, 'How do I get in this picture?' And that's what Jon and I have been figuring out.”

"Men shouldn't handle women's stories!"
twin peaks: fire walk with me. the favourite. the passion of joan of arc. the red shoes. evangelion. house. sunset boulevard. perfect blue.
i want more women in film, obviously. but you're not advocating for that, you just hate art.
Oliver Stone hated JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 4:
“I saw John Wick 4 on the plane. Talk about volume. I think the film is disgusting beyond belief. Disgusting .. As a combat veteran, I gotta tell you [that] not one of [the killings] is believable
Denis Villeneuve says "The future of cinema is IMAX & the large formats. The audience wants to see something that they cannot have at home, that they cannot have on streaming. They want to experience an event…. It’s a tremendous art form that needs to be experienced in
Scorsese treated Jordan Belfort as a cartoon character and hated him. Scorsese treated Earnest Burkheart like a real person person and I feel he hated him even more because of that.

I just love $145,000,000.00 budgeted movies that have made $1,441,273,355.00 in theaters and an ungodly amout more in merchandise sales (the promotion of which is the film's primary reason for existing) competing in an awards show created to award independent films.
Matt Shakman says the ‘FANTASTIC FOUR’ movie is “unlike anything at Marvel that you’ve seen before.”
“We are doing things very differently from a story standpoint, from an approach to the filmmaking standpoint, that really fits the material.”

People advocate for "original films" meaning not a sequel or spinoff or adaptation. No. It should mean a cinematic voice making something new in this medium. Scorsese adapting a book or Lynch creating the third season of a TV series is far more original than The Creator.
Robert Downey Jr says Christopher Nolan “doesn’t even really like it when you go to the bathroom but he understands you have to.”
“I asked him ‘dude when do you go?’ And he goes ‘11am and 6pm’. I was like, ‘are you fucking with me?’”

Christopher Nolan is not a pseudo intellectual, he's a romantic who likes high concepts to set his stories against. They might seem heady but he prioritizes sensation over logically understanding every detail.
Twisted fact : Kubrick actually made his assistant type all the 500 odd pages with countless repetitions of "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy".
Also, most of Shelly Duvall's performance was not 'acting' per se. She was actually traumatized by Kubrick!
