You can now join me at my new only fans account, 'onlygrains'.
On this account, I will be providing daily grain market commentary in my strongest Scottish accent whilst only wearing a kilt.
I remember being approached by one of the big 4 about two or three years ago.
They had a project and needed agricultural data as part of their report.
They wanted the data/analysis for free. Their reasoning:
"It will put you in good stead with us for the future"
What is your unpopular opinion on agriculture?
It's interesting to see people 'debating' agricultural practices in recent days.
Is there a view you have that is unpopular in the agricultural sphere?
Mine is that veganism isn't a huge risk to agriculture.
Let's hear them.
The Leigh Creek urea plant in South Australia seems to be moving ahead with bank support.
This facility plans to produce 1mmt of urea per year. Australia tends to import around 2mmt per year.
If this goes ahead it could be a gamechanger.
I've got a feeling the Valais Blacknose was put up against the merino in the early stages to avoid another 'belted galloway' situation.

Understand you are a bit busy at the moment
@JoeBiden
but any chance you could include adopting the metric system in your executive orders? Cheers pal.
The past four and a half years has been a great experience.

We have however decided that it is time to leave Mecardo / Nutrien Ag Solutions to jointly investigate new opportunities.

The war in Ukraine has less coverage in the media but it continues to rumble on.
My parents in Dumfries are doing their bit to help with displaced Ukrainian families by opening their house to them

Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act
This act has scaleable fees based on global revenue
If I am reading this right, large agribusiness will have to pay a lot if they want to set up a new site:
Elders/CBH: $120k per application / $22.5k annual fee
Nutrien/Bunge: $340k / $52.5k
"You are not farming correctly." I was concerned about social licence back in 2019.
I wrote the below piece back then. Many scoffed at my views. Is a social licence truly achievable?
I'm on a pretty heavy protein diet at the moment, and I've been eating lamb or mutton most days this week.
The average consumption of lamb in Australia is 8kg per year (I think).
I think I'm around 1.5kg for the past seven days.
Autism background rates seem to be primarily driven by the use of glyphosate. From Stephanie Seneff. If you fully vax, you'll also be 5X more likely to get autism than unvaxxed. So it's a COMBINATION effect.
Things I don’t understand this morning:
1. Hopkins and Jenner get visas to come and presumably leave Australia. At a time when its almost impossible for me to see family until 2023.
2. People actually watch big brother.
We watched the dry last night. Great film.
I’ve watched a few Aussie films in recent weeks. It got me thinking what is the best Australian made film.
What’s yours?
Movies of Scotland: Angry Young Men (2022). A surreal, coming of age tale set in the barren gangland town of Mauchton, Scotland. In Mauchton, one group of young boys decide to fight back against their elder rivals and establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with.
Why do motorcycles never appear in the climate conversation?
In big cities, motorcycles/mopeds should be encouraged. They emit less, and they reduce congestion.
Based on this, I think buying a Ducati would be a way for me to help the environment and reduce congestion.
There are three vessels* en route to China carrying 101,667mt of (West) Australian barley.
These vessels are likely to have the 80.5% tariff applied.

I have an idea for a reality TV show. We buy the most marginal land on the most remote Scottish island we can find.
Then send a group of Aussie farmers there to see how profitable they can make the land.

Last year I was criticised for calling the carbon market immature and that sovereign risk in these markets was huge.
It seems that this view is becoming more common.
A Scotsman, a French man, a Spaniard and a German were all attending a Zoom meeting.
The supervisor asked, " Can you all see me ok ?"
To which they answered, "Yes" "Oui" "Si" "Ja".
"Australian farmers get too many subsidies"
We often see comments like this on social media. At TEM we like facts.
Next time someone tells you Australian agriculture is subsidised - send them this chart.

and I founded Thomas Elder Markets in conjunction with
@EldersLimited
We have now rebranded the business and placed it under a new entity owned by the two of us.
We thank Elders and the wider industry for their support!
A new episode in analysis.
You see this. Is it bacon that is pig free, or is it bacon that is free from boar taint?
Now imagine looking at this whilst doing the weekly shop with an uncooperative toddler.
It does say that it is plant-based, but not where your eyes are drawn to on the packaging.

When I eat convention lentils grown in Australia I shit blood. When I eat organic or Biodynamic lentils I am fine. Explain how that works if dessicants do not stay the seeds. Chemical grain farmers are lunatics drinking from am easy money hose, that is called selling your soul
Natural gas prices in Europe are going through the roof, which will impact fertilizer pricing levels.
It's also going to lead to energy poverty throughout the bloc if it continues to stay at inflated levels through the winter. 🥶❄️☃️

Aye, ok pal - enjoy your luxury cheese and ham toastie
Do you know one of the biggest issues I see with a modern FMD outbreak in Australia is? Phone cameras
There aren't that many images/videos of the culling of animals in the 2001 outbreak. These days everyone has a 4k camera in their pocket. Is this a big 'social licence' risk?
Food security and food affordability are two very distinct terms.
There seems to be confusion about this.
Australia is extremely food secure, Australia also has many that are suffering from food affordability.
