Making positive, equitable, and redefining change in order to help our communities be healthier, safer, and stronger in Kentucky and beyond. #youbelonghere

Our Health of Kentuckians class—a 400-level elective for Bachelor of Public Health students instructed by Dr. Angela Carman—explores Kentucky’s health statistics and the social determinants of health. As part of the course, students analyzed the State Health Assessment and State Health Improvement Plan (SHA/SHIP), culminating in final presentations where they could either propose a new focus area or enhance existing ones in the plan. This year, students had the incredible opportunity to present their ideas to Dr. Steven Stack, who is the Commissioner for the Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH) and Chief Medical Officer for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and Taban Herrington, KDPH Chief of Staff, who provided valuable feedback on their final projects! @CHFSKy
