The Underport is where all the city's water flows through - a stone trench of tunnels, sluice gates and bridges.
Some sections have been shut for a long time. Perhaps for good reason...

I’m so confused by this game because some people say the combat doesn’t function and is unusable/too clunky, and some people are playing the game like its Vanquish meets Doom Eternal lmao
I saw a room full of skeletal corpses in Baldur’s Gate 3 and I was immediately suspicious they’d be raised, so I took all their weapons, put them in a random vase, and when they were raised they were all unarmed lmao
Someone was able to instantly nuke a late game boss in Baldur’s Gate 3 by using a weapon that has an affix called “Blood Money” that deals weapon damage + 4 piercing damage for every 300 gold the target has.
They reversed pickpocketed 87,000 gold into the boss’ pockets.
So, after Baldur’s Gate 3 became an inconceivably huge success for Larian, EA/BioWare’s response was to fire a whole swathe of devs who were responsible for not just the earlier Dragon Age games but also the earlier Baldur’s Gate games?
Just amazing. Impressive, even.
My partner just had to run to the store for more candy because the first kids shouted “infinite Minecraft food glitch!” and just started grabbing handfuls of candy while she stared in horror.
Some of the replies are like “this is why public domain shouldn’t exist” but I think this is exactly why public domain should exist. This is so funny lol
The “oh bother” tagline? lmao
Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey is a horror retelling of "the famous legend of Winnie the Poo." 💉🍯
This, of course, is not being done by Disney – Winnie entered the public domain in January of 2022.
It’s funny because once you attune to how older games play, you’ll start to feel the opposite - that often, it’s nice how every action isn’t a forced animated sequence or takedown. You press a button and a thing just *happens*.
This is one of those things that seems not that impressive since we’re used to real world physics being absolute/inherit, but video game engines do not exist in that realm and every facet of gravity, relativity and force has to programmed by hand around obtuse component systems.
We made it so the player could trick the goatman into the attic and lock him up there as a fun pacifist way to deal with him.
All it did was give us a negative review lol

Shadow of the Erdtree trailer will be revealed in 3 hours.
Join us at 15:00 UTC for the world premiere of the Shadow of the Erdtree Story Trailer.
I encountered something very disturbing in the recent Gloomwood update that nobody else has seemed to experience. The deeper I looked, the stranger it all became. I compiled all my findings in to one big video below. Good luck making sense of this. ⬇️
Elden Ring and Baldur's Gate 3 being some of the biggest hits of the last few years makes me glad.
I prefer being able to play the (mostly) single-player experience and not get constantly reminded about an in-game shop, premium currencies and battle passes.
Games as a service gets a lot of flak (for good reason), but this is one of the cooler ideas for it: someone internally acting as a shadow DM for the game’s galactic enemy factions - picking which planets or systems to invade.
'We have an actual person with the title of Game Master': A single Helldivers 2 dev named Joel is pulling the strings on its galactic war like an all-powerful D&D dungeon master, war will become 'more and more sophisticated over time.'
A lot of people found the tone frustrating, but honestly I just find it refreshing whenever a dev gets to speak without it being filtered through several layers of softening PR language.
At least I know it’s an actual person with passions and beliefs lol
I totally get not liking the Souls games, but the amount of devs I've seen on here that believe that From Software is struggling to find an audience or failing financially from their design choices is very funny.
Apparently if you allow players to backtrack to older levels, your game only has one level. Sorry, System Shock 1 + 2, Arx Fatalis, Prey 2017, Stalker, Dark Souls, ect.
Making games was a mistake.
I need to pin this at the top of my Steam forums. So many people do not understand the difference between something being realistic vs. something being engaging.
Hi. Can you at least let us grieve for a single day for our colleagues losing their careers and livelihoods before “won’t someone please think of my millionaire buddies” posting.
Part of why Baldur’s Gate 3 has done so well is that this is a genre that used to be popular but has long since been left fairly dry. Studios like BioWare moved onto doing live service games like Anthem, but the craving for good CRPGs still exists.
Bloodborne fans going from “Kai is going to get us the remaster!” to despair as the run becomes rushed and unfun for him is honestly the exact kind of hilarious monkey’s paw fortune we should have expected lmao
All the comments below the Indiana Jones trailer are complaining that it should be in third person and a carbon copy of Uncharted
but I'm here like "yes, let me entangle and trip bad guys with the first-person whip. I am ready to be Dr. Blazkowicz Jones"
Larian honed in the combat to be the most in-depth, freeform turn-based combat seen in an D&D-style RPG.
Dividing up resources and time for a lesser system would have been detrimental for a game that threaded the difficult needle between immense scale and handcrafted encounters.
Hot take: Larian should add real-time combat to Baldur's Gate 3, Take all the profit from the game and make it an option, I'd pay money for that as a DLC, A huge amount of players including myself who want to get into the game cannot due to turn based
They'd prob triple their
So far everyone I've known who plays Elden Ring has had the Baldachin's Blessing debuff without knowing what it is and that's hilarious.
(If you hugged the girl, you have -5% of your total max HP until you use the item she gives you. It's that red icon under your bar)
Our fighter in Baldur’s Gate 3 is using a fire sword, and when we did the encounter with the room full of drunk kobolds, they immediately exploded into flames every time she hit them because their bodies are so full of alcohol that they’re flammable.
Truly GOTY.
The Dead Space Remake devs did an AMA and one of the answers involves how they did the new Captain Mathias necromorph change sequence, and my god the AAA pipeline is wild lol
Since it’s trending - yes, Berserk requires basically the biggest content warning you can possibly give, and it can be excessive/overwrought at times. It has a *cruel* world.
It also has a lot of beautiful moments and the character development is surprising and captivating.
I totally understand why people don’t like it, but the kind of sickly green palette that Fallout 3 uses worked great for its horror sequences and DLC. The shadows and lighting on the mutants in Point Lookout and the Pitt just make them look so unsettling. Horror film palettes.
A while back, a fairly large channel accused us of having a slow default movement speed in order to “waste the 2 hour refund window.”
The reason you don’t move at DUSK’s speed in Gloomwood is because we wanted players to tread carefully as they couldn’t easily outrun threats.
Taking time this evening to write about Dragon's Dogma 2. It's a miracle this game exists. An astounding work!
But I think 2024 is a ~terrible~ year for such a friction heavy game to reach a mass audience.
my rambles on cohost:
One of the New Blood QA members and I just spent like 5 straight hours fixing one of the most cursed bugs of our careers.
All started with this message about how nothing was being interacted with in the lighthouse area.
NEW - I got a major update from Unity about their new fees
- Unity "regrouped" and now says ONLY the initial installation of a game triggers a fee
- Demos mostly won't trigger fees
- Devs not on the hook for Game Pass
More here:
Intriguing interview with Miyazaki from IGN - acknowledgements that Dark Souls 2 was an important stepping stone for Elden Ring, both design-wise and letting directors have more control on projects (Yui Tanimura was both a co-director on DS2 and Elden Ring).
Since there is a lot of gloating from other non-Unity developers, I just want to note that this is capable of happening *anywhere*.
It can happen to Steam, Unreal, the App Store, whatever. Just like how Twitter was gutted for Blue.
We live in a CEO/stock driven hellscape.
Quake was so technology forward that it led to Romero leaving/being fired from id Software.
Quake was going to be a hammer-wielding fantasy action game, but fell back to becoming an FPS because the team was immensely burnt out by the time the engine was ready.
During the Unity debacle, I said “you shouldn’t trust any third party corporation” and people said “no, Epic isn’t like that.”
So I repeat: you shouldn’t trust any corporation. Not Unity, not Valve, not Epic.
When the chips are down, they won’t be there for you.
Epic is selling Bandcamp to Songtrdr, a licensing and distribution platform that charges both musicians and licensors a monthly fee.
Somehow, despite the money flowing in from both ends, the sluggish revenue and path to profit has delayed their IPO goals in the AU market. 🙃
There are some truly groundbreaking missions in Dishonored 2: Clockwork Manor, Crack in the Slab, Duke's Manor. It's like a game full of other's games best levels.
The Working Joe design in Isolation was a stroke of genius: it’s both aesthetically unsettling as a cheap android knockoff and thematically fits into the narrative of Seegson’s corner cutting of the Sevastopol.
I finished the Fallout show and I cannot believe people have been arguing about it trying to erase New Vegas, especially with the later episodes.
This app makes me feel insane. I’m so glad I spend less time in this stupid place.
It is very funny and prescient that Cruelty Squad is one of the first notable commercial games on Godot in the lead up to this paradigm shift from Unity.
Who could predict a better flagbearer for everyone jumping ship from another engine’s corporate hellscape?
There's something I really love about the look of games in that 1998-2002 period. It was a really nice middle point between chunky geometry/models but lots of freedom to imply detail/atmosphere.
A turn-based, complex RPG holding steady as the top third most concurrently played game two months after release is just wild. Living among the live service giants.
I’ve cleared this stretch of road in Bloodborne so many times that I should just buy property on it.
I assume the property prices are decent this time of the hunt.
BREAKING: Epic Games lays off roughly 50% of Bandcamp amidst its sale to Songtradr.
The Fortnite maker purchased the music platform just last year but is now spinning it off amid massive cost cutting.
I have like five friends right now for whom Elden Ring was the first From Software game to *click* for them and it's super neat to see.
David earlier was like "wait, are all these games like - this good?" hahaha
The perception that Doom 3's horror tone clashes with the original games is so confusing to me.
It's like the modern reboots made everyone memory hole that the original games were full of dark corridor ambushes where your only light were muzzle flashes.
I keep trying to rationalize in my head like “what if the acquisition was only $67 billion instead of 68 and that billion went to studios like Arkane and Tango that can hit when given enough time/resources.”
And then I remember it’d still just go to more CEO yachts and mansions
The $375,000,000 Microsoft payout to known dog scum Bobby Kotick, could pay for the estimated salaries of both Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks employees combined for the next 17 and a half years
These still bum me out. Prey 2017 and Alien Isolation are incredible games and this damaged their initial reception.
It’s taken years to get the word of mouth to spread that these games are actually worth playing.
@YanLucasdf
Yeah I’m pretty sure that’s what’s happening. The player grounded check is happening on the crate, resetting the fall height check. It doesn’t check if the ground object is also grounded lmao
An important lesson: never become so complacent in your position that you create your own David vs. Goliath scenario.
People like rooting for the underdog, and will happily help David purchase a machine gun that shoots slingshots.
