is out on stands today. This is sort of "my" new book as I am coloring the main story and some side stories in each one (so far.) I'm getting to work with a ton of artists and writers all with different styles. Lots of fun stuff to come.

I shouldn’t have to tell artists this but a random person asking you to draw Marvel characters is not the same as Marvel paying you to draw Marvel characters. You can’t put Marvel, DC, etc in your bio cause you sketched Spider-man for your neighbor. It’s not how it works.

I would render all of the pages in sepia tones, then I'd overlay splashes of color afterwards. One constant in my career is do try to change things up often. I try not to settle on techniques.

How and where did you discover comic books? For me I looked at comic books in a book store at the mall after I had seen the X-men on Spider-man & His Amazing Friends. All the comics I started with were based on characters or toys I had already seen.

Picked up a
#PSVR2
this week. I hated on this thing when they launched it cause of its price. Now having it it's probably the best VR headset you can get at its current discounted price. Gran Turismo and No Man's Sky are EXPERIENCES. Can't wait to hook it up to Steam next week.

Exciting news! Netflix is developing a live action film AND follow-up anime series based on Keanu Reeves’ BRZRKR, a brutally epic saga about an immortal warrior’s 80,000 year fight through the ages. Reeves will produce and star in the film, and voice the anime.

Just going to add that we’ve used mixed media photo bashing to build up backgrounds to get a realistic look to the environments. We’ve done this in all of our collaborations going back to E-Ratic 1 from AWA Studios.

This is a neat color theory breakdown. Aladdin was one of my main influences for Spinstress. I tried to implement the same theories to varying success on 4-5 page scenes with multiple panels and a hodge podge of different Disney render styles.
I think this is my best video. It's 19 minutes of analyzing the color theory of Aladdin. It never really took off on YT, so why not try it here? I'm not convinced people want long videos on here, but if it goes mega-viral (like art theory content tends to) I'll admit I'm wrong.

So the “What colors do you see on this shoe?” threads is basically what every colorist has had to deal with when they change the local color on a scene and the editors are like “Why isn’t Batman’s belt yellow?” when Batman is in a cave surrounded by monitors with blue light.

Whenever I'm asked about how I got into art or where I studied I usually only credit my dad. He's self taught and he can work in any medium he sets his mind to. Growing up he typically used oils and I'd sit behind him watching him paint at his easel. This is some of his work.

Advice for creators trying to break-in/build their portfolio. No amount of exposure from a book will make up for a low page rate. If you have a regular job and you make more than the rate offered divided by the hours needed to do it then keep your job. 1/
