Lou Holtz was spot on.
Side note: Going after 86 year old Holtz right after a victory is maybe the weirdest energy I’ve ever seen.
And Lou is 100x the coach that Day will ever be…
Notre Dame’s now “11 career total starts” offensive line against Texas A&M, which has one of the best DLs in the country:
- 0 sacks allowed
- 198 yards rushing (5.8 per carry)
Were there ugly moments? Sure. But that group fought hard tonight and will only improve from here.
Notre Dame’s about to be 5-2 and still have USC and Clemson to go on the schedule…
The Irish might have another 8-4 season. Unbelievable.
You bring in a quarterback like Sam Hartman and completely waste the opportunity. Enraging.
Last 5 QBs Brian Kelly landed as Head Coach at Notre Dame:
Brendon Clark
Drew Pyne
Tyler Buchner
Steve Angeli
Jack Coan
First 5 QBs Marcus Freeman landed as Head Coach at Notre Dame:
Kenny Minchey
CJ Carr
Deuce Knight
Sam Hartman
Riley Leonard
What a difference.
14 of Notre Dame’s 16 2023 commits held Michigan offers…
4 of Notre Dame’s 5 2024 commits held Michigan offers…
Meanwhile, not a single 2023 or 2024 Michigan commit held a Notre Dame offer.
Michael Mayer on the Bussin’ With The Boys Podcast:
“This is no shade towards Coach Kelly. I love Coach Kelly, but he would never be around in the summers or anything. With Freeman, he’s been at pretty much everything… he’s in it with the boys. He’s in our lifts, in our runs.”
Since Marcus Freeman has become Head Coach, QB recruiting has been unreal.
2023- Kenny Minchey
2024- CJ Carr
2025- Deuce Knight
That’s how it’s supposed to be done.
Again, the Marcus Freeman Era is just beginning…
We’ve seen this arc with Nick Saban, Dabo Swinney, Kirby Smart, etc.
Notre Dame’s very close to winning a natty. Let’s see who wants to jump aboard that train.
If Notre Dame hires Marcus Freeman as Head Coach, this will be the closest I’ve felt Notre Dame is to a National Championship in a very long time.
Just make the move.
In all seriousness, LSU has been great to Notre Dame.
The Tigers took Brian Kelly away from South Bend, which was fantastic news for the future of the Notre Dame program.
Now LSU acted as ND’s farm system, and the Irish just promoted their OC to the big leagues.
Love it.
A lot of talk about Notre Dame’s schedule after the Irish just had the hardest matchup out of all contending teams.
Also, let’s not forget that the Irish were supposed to play Miami this year, but the Hurricanes pulled out of the game.
Control what you can control.
Sam Hartman, that run on 4th down was absolutely legendary.
I have no idea how Notre Dame won that game, but the good guys won out…
Notre Dame wins 21-14 vs. Duke.
Notre Dame hasn’t lost to an ACC team in the regular season since 2017.
That’s 27 straight wins for the Irish over ACC opponents.
And people want ND to join a conference? 😂
Chris Fowler got so excited thinking that it was a first down when the ball was 8 yards short of the line to gain.
Not only is he incredibly annoying, but he’s also not the brightest of the bunch.
Marcus Freeman:
“For me, I challenge the coaches. It’s not the kid’s fault. We got to coach it better.”
So refreshing to hear from the Head Coach of the Notre Dame football program. That’s a true leader.
The players’ reaction to Brian Kelly leaving to LSU compared to the Oklahoma players reacting Lincoln Riley going to USC says a lot.
Notre Dame is MUCH MORE than any specific coach, and the culture at ND is fantastic.
That being said, hire Freeman for HC.
Kirby Smart went 8-5 with 0 ranked wins in his first year as HC at Georgia, which included losses to Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech at home. UGA barely beat Nicholls State that year.
Sometimes it takes patience, but when you have the right guy, it’ll pay off.
Be patient.
Tyler Buchner to Alabama.
A lot of buzz of Logan Diggs to LSU.
A lot of buzz of Lorenzo Styles to OSU.
Alabama, LSU, and OSU wanting Notre Dame backups in the transfer portal?
If that’s not a sign of a healthy program, I don’t know what is.
“Called Alabama on the ride home from Notre Dame, called LSU on the ride home, committed the next day, ended it. Notre Dame is probably the best decision I’ve made in my life.”
- Former Notre Dame and NFL QB Deshone Kizer on the Breneman Show.
I thought it was an awful look for Notre Dame to have Tommy Rees, a former Irish QB, leave for the same role at Alabama…
Not paying up for Andy Ludwig due to a buyout is much more embarrassing.
Just an awful, awful look for the Notre Dame administration.
Marcus Freeman is at tonight’s state dinner at the White House.
South Korea President Yoon Suk Yeo is visiting and will be in attendance.
Freeman is half Korean and is accompanied by his Korean mother, which makes this an even more special moment for the Notre Dame Head Coach.
Part of Rocco Spindler’s (
@RoccoSpindler92
) commitment video, which was uploaded on his Instagram page.
I highly recommend you watch at least this 1:44 clip fully. One of the coolest commitment videos I’ve seen. Gives you chills.
I got hated on for saying Tommy Rees was taking a lateral move by going to be Alabama’s OC, and also got hate for saying Notre Dame’s offense would be better than Alabama’s this year.
Guess what?
Notre Dame’s offense is 100x better than Alabama’s.
There’s not a doubt in my mind that tonight’s game took some time off my lifespan, but that’s part of the sacrifice we make as diehard Notre Dame fans…
What. A. Win.
Notre Dame has landed a commitment from 2025 QB Deuce Knight!
Knight has an insanely high ceiling… 6’5” with a rocket arm while also being extremely athletic. Freak talent.
Deuce Knight is as ranked as a top 30 player by both On3 and Rivals. HUGE PICKUP.
Recruits, if you want to help Notre Dame and Marcus Freeman get over the hump and make that one extra play when needed, get to South Bend.
This team is so close and doesn’t need much more to win a National Championship…
Just need to get over that hump.
Just was on campus and didn’t see much red walking around…
The most Notre Dame fans I’ve seen walking around campus on a Friday in my lifetime.
Everyone’s ready to beat the Buckeyes tomorrow.
You’d have to imagine the response from recruits at this game is going to be extremely positive…
All eyes on Carter Nelson 👀
And one watching from home, Kaleb Beasley 👀
WHAT. A. NIGHT.
Mike Denbrock at Notre Dame- Deshone Kizer
Mike Denbrock at Cincinnati- Desmond Ridder
Mike Denbrock at LSU- Jayden Daniels
Yes, he coaches tight ends, but as OC, he sets up his quarterbacks very well.
Huge get for Notre Dame.
Notre Dame truly does it different.
The Irish in 2022 will:
• Play in the Baltimore Ravens Stadium.
• Play in the Las Vegas Raiders Stadium.
• Play at OSU.
• Play at USC.
No other team in the country gets the opportunity to play in 2 NFL stadiums and play coast to coast
If Dylan Raiola goes to Nebraska and does great things for that program, he’ll be a legend.
A legend we’ve not seen at a program like Alabama for awhile now.
It means a lot more to do something great at a school that hasn’t won a championship in some time.
Hope he goes there.
Ausberry’s high school is on LSU’s campus.
His father also played football at LSU and is high up in the Athletic Department at LSU.
And Notre Dame beats out Brian Kelly and company for one of the best players in the state of Louisiana.
Notre Dame has landed a commitment from 2023 four-star LB Jaiden Ausberry out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Ausberry’s ranked as the 105th overall player in the country.
The Irish beat out the likes of LSU, Michigan, Texas A&M, Auburn, and others.
Huge pickup!
Notre Dame has landed Wake Forest transfer QB Sam Hartman.
Hartman has thrown for 110 TDs in his career, which is an ACC record.
The Irish offense is going to be dynamic, as it will be elite on the ground and should be very good through the air.
Very exciting times.
If you’re a high school cornerback, how do you not want to come to Notre Dame?
This CB room is so well coached and is easily the best in the country due to Mike Mickens and company.
By the way, Ben Morrison and Cam Hart are the best outside CB duo in the country, and I’m not even sure that’s debatable at this point.
They were absolutely locking down whoever was across from them all game long.
Xavier Watts with a legendary performance tonight:
2 INTs
1 forced fumble
1 fumble return for a TD
Special night for a great player and an unselfish player. Started out at WR and moved to Rover for some reason then safety then WR and back to safety.
Love this for him.
Notre Dame has landed a commitment from 2023 four-star RB Jeremiyah Love.
Love is ranked as the 66th overall player in the country, according to the 247Composite rankings.
Love held offers from schools such as Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Oregon, etc.
My grandpa has guessed more than 5 plays in a row before the play from this Notre Dame offense.
Smart guy, but if he can do it, opposing coaches certainly can.
Gerad Parker’s play calling is some of the worst I’ve ever seen.
Riley Leonard was off today through the air, which had a lot to do with the offensive line being so youthful, in my opinion.
However, he battled so hard tonight.
His legs changed the game when other things weren’t happening. Big, big win.
“Notre Dame is going on a run this year. I believe this is going to be the best Notre Dame team in a long time with Sam Hartman at quarterback.”
- Pat McAfee on College Gameday
Notre Dame will be recruiting at a top 5 level every single year with Marcus Freeman at Head Coach.
It’s a different type of monster with him at the helm.
These future Notre Dame teams will match up in talent with every school in the country. It’s going to be fun.
Notre Dame has landed a commitment from 2023 Texas safety Peyton Bowen.
Bowen is the 58th overall player in the 247Composite rankings.
Bowen held offers from ND, Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, Oklahoma, USC, Florida, and multiple others.
This 2023 class is 🔥🔥🔥
Since 2004, every starting tight end at Notre Dame has been drafted.
The Irish have had 11 tight ends drafted since the 2005 NFL Draft, and Michael Mayer will soon be the 12th.
Notre Dame is 100% TEU, and tradition of excellence at the position will only continue.
Ohio State and Notre Dame offered a combined 0 Michigan signees this past cycle.
Michigan offered 28 players who ended up at Ohio State or Notre Dame.
The Wolverines have no say in recruitments that the Irish and Buckeyes are in.
I can promise you that Ohio State could care less about Michigan as a threat on the recruiting trail…
Notre Dame and Ohio State laugh at Michigan when the Wolverines try and get involved in a recruitment that either of the two schools are pursuing.
Harrison Smith was the best safety in the NFL for a very long time.
Kyle Hamilton’s on track to go that same route.
What do both have in common? They both play safety and both went to Notre Dame.
Ade Ogundeji has decided to forgo the NFL draft, and has decided to return for his 5th year of eligibility.
Huge news for the Irish! Possible 1st round pick next year.
With Christian Gray officially committing, Notre Dame now has its best recruiting class, in terms of accumulated points on the Composite, since 2013.
The Irish are only 19 commits in, and the class will probably end around 25 or so commits.
The Marcus Freeman Effect ☘️
Going from Gerad Parker to Mike Denbrock at Offensive Coordinator is quite the upgrade.
Notre Dame and Marcus Freeman are flexing their muscles going down to LSU to grab Mike Denbrock from Brian Kelly.
What a day.
According to Football Scoop, Georgia went after Al Washington for a position coach opening on their staff.
Notre Dame and Marcus Freeman ended up winning out. Big, big pickup for the Irish defensive staff.
People who hated Notre Dame started to want to root for Notre Dame once Marcus Freeman was hired, as they saw how good of a person he is.
Many of those same people are back to hating on ND because they see how big of a step the program is taking under Freeman.
I love it.
The Chicago Bears are filled with former Notre Dame players.
The starting Bears offense includes:
WR Chase Claypool
WR Equanimeous St. Brown
TE Cole Kmet
C Sam Mustipher
Notre Dame is Chicago’s college football team, so plenty of Bears fans know how talented Claypool is.
Notre Dame has landed 2025 four-star DL Chris Burgess Jr. out of Simeon Career Academy in Chicago, Illinois.
The Irish beat out Ohio State, Michigan, and others in landing Burgess.
Important for Notre Dame to keep stacking more talent from the Chicagoland area. Big get.
To the players who played their last game in a Notre Dame uniform tonight, thank you.
You have been a building block of this program that will lead to a National Championship in the years to come under Marcus Freeman.
Notre Dame has landed Arizona State graduate transfer nickel Jordan Clark.
As a captain for Arizona State, Clark had 9 pass breakups and was a big piece to the Sun Devil secondary.
Jordan is the son of former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark.
Good get for the Irish.
BREAKING: Former ASU DB Jordan Clark has Committed to Notre Dame, he tells
@on3sports
“I wanted to spend my last year somewhere where I could grow as a student athlete, & I don’t think there’s anywhere better for me to do that than ND.“
