With nearly 100 tornadoes this spring, Oklahoma saw devastating impacts, especially in Sulphur.

Es posible que veamos impactos costeros, lluvias intensas y vientos fuertes a lo largo de las costas de TX y LA esta semana.
We now have an aircraft collecting data inside the Gulf disturbance. A few first notes:
• it doesn’t have a clear center of circulation yet, but rather an elongated axis of spin
• winds are decently strong; likely surface gusts of 50-60 mph
Likely to be dubbed PTC6 at 5 PM.
We'll have an outlook for the Gulf Coast out first thing Monday.
Interests from Tamaulipas, Mexico to New Orleans should keep tabs on the evolution of this system, which probably will become a named storm and could be a heavy rain-maker.
There is an increasing chance that a tropical depression or storm – presumably Francine – will form in the Bay of Campeche or western Gulf of Mexico by Monday or Tuesday.
It's unclear:
1.) where system will go
2.) how long it will spend over water
3.) how much it may intensify
Why are there still no hurricanes!? 🌀
We’re bordering on a historically silent stretch during peak season — which is far from normal.
Are predictions of a “hyperactive” season a bust? I sat down with

It’s peak hurricane season. The oceans are red hot. The atmosphere is primed. And not a single hurricane has formed since August 12.
Something is holding back the Atlantic — but what? And could “homegrown” storms wreak havoc in the fall?

explores answers.
🌧️A weak low-pressure system over the northwestern Gulf of Mexico will continue to spread heavy rains ashore for coastal Louisiana, Mississippi, and the Florida Panhandle.

has an update.
NEW: Haikou Meilan International Airport gusted to 110 mph at 10Z in the eyewall.
The airport is several miles inland. City likely saw gusts of 120 to 130 mph.
A few gusts of 140 mph probably occurred near Jingxinjiao in eastern Wenchang.
