BCU named as top university for work experience placements in the West Midlands 👏 Over 4,000 students from across the UK provided feedback to @RateMyPlacement on the internships, placements and vacation schemes they had completed as part of their undergraduate degree. The university ranked an overall 8th in the UK, surpassing household names including the University of Cambridge and Cardiff University. Professor David Mba, Vice-Chancellor of Birmingham City University, said: “I am incredibly proud that the work of our faculties and placement teams has been recognised by our students.”

West Midlands Police firearms officers, dog units, drone operatives and forensic teams were out in full force this week at BCU to highlight the range of specialist policing roles available to students after leaving university 👮🚨 The ‘Police Takeover Day’ was set up in response to a wider recruitment drive aimed at encouraging young people to consider a career in the police force. During the event, there were live demonstrations from West Midlands Police’s specialised teams, including infrared drones, armoured vehicles and dog units 🚔 There was also an opportunity for students to speak with armed response officers and explore some of the forensic techniques used by police as part of their investigation process.
