Once sanctions are in, it is very difficult to remove them. Same with subsidies, cockroaches, termites, kleptocrats and economic theories.

Heuristic: any negotiation, business or political, that lasts longer than one hour (excl. meals) is no longer a negotiation; it's more like an attempt to verbally resuscitate a dead horse. Usually parties come to agreement by rapid convergence; the rest is filling-in the details.

So much information, so little insight. There is more ex post understanding of society but it seems there is far less ex ante insight (which is overwhelming). Today’s information super glut is ambiguous. We do not know the impact of the new things we know.
