This is such an important point. When I point out that inflation is down to under 3%, people say but "the prices are still high".
They want prices to return to 2019 levels, maybe dropping 40-50%.
First of all that NEVER happens after a period of inflation.

It is again one of the huge failures (or corruptions) of the media that they talk about prices being high as a problem to be solved. Unless they are unbelievably ignorant of economics, they know prices will not fall. Why pretend otherwise?
