I think he's desperate to be loved by the bullies he claimed ruined his childhood. He had the potential to become a massive force for good, and I'd argue that his businesses are doing that, but he personally couldn't resist wanting to impress the kind of people who used to torment him.

I think you are partially right. I think he is willing to do the bidding of the big international authoritarians to keep markets and resources available to him, including supporting nationalist candidates in Europe and the US to weaken those countries and make them easier to manipulate for him and those authoritarians.

I honestly don’t know if that’s true or not. I think it’s unlikely. The companies he owns he became involved with early enough that it is likely he had real input into them, and they have mostly all been incredibly successful. He can be good at that and still have abhorrent views… much like Henry Ford, the Vanderbilts or many historic industrialists.,.
