NEW: #China government hackers breached the @USTreasury through a security vendor Sounds like it went like this: STEP 1: First, attackers targeted Treasury vendor @BeyondTrust STEP 2: Stole #BeyondTrust's key for a remote tech support cloud platform. STEP 3: Attackers used the platform like a backdoor on Treasury machines where it was installed. Ouch. The analogy is: hacker breaks into your plumber's office & steals master keys to the buildings they service. Given BeyondTrust's big client list, makes one wonder if other customers were targeted.

Excited to join an incredible lineup of speakers at the #CyberFutureSummit to tackle the hard truths at the intersection of cybersecurity, national security, and technology policy. The recent Chinese Salt Typhoon attack exposed massive vulnerabilities in U.S. telecommunications — compromising phone calls, texts, and surveillance systems, with attackers still embedded in our networks. Grateful to the Cyber Future Foundation for the opportunity to unpack the implications of these breaches and the threats facing our critical infrastructure and public utilities, while offering valuable strategies to secure our nation.

In this country I love, we’ve witnessed so much divisiveness—too many voices focused on what divides us, rather than what unites us. But as we stand here now, I’m filled with hope. Hope that we can come together. Hope that we can rediscover the true meaning of who we are as the United States of America. I’ve always believed that serivce comes before all politics.
