History recognizes actions that are bigger than self. Joe Biden will go down as one of the great ones, having led the country out of the disastrous term of his predecessor and quietly doing good things for all Americans, red state as well as blue, accomplishments that put him up
My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best

The way Lt. Col. Alex Vindman has been treated is shameful. I hope the next president decorates this American hero with the highest honors.
I met Alex as a young boy for my 1985 film on the Statue of Liberty, and I had the chance to thank him for his service early this year.
It was enriching & inspiring to explore the life of an American champion inside & outside the ring.

This is a coup against the United States of America, incited by Donald Trump. He should be impeached by the House as soon as possible and convicted and removed by the Senate just as quickly. This is not us, the U.S.
My thoughts on Florida House Bill 999:
America’s greatness stems not from its suppression of our complicated history but our willingness to engage and understand it. Each generation has helped further bring to life the values articulated in the Declaration… (1/3)
We are at a critical point in our country’s history. If you do not understand the complexities and promise of our past, you cannot imagine a better future. We either invest in the humanities, including history and civics, or we forfeit our democracy.

By trying to dictate what teachers can and cannot teach, Florida House Bill 999 is an assault on the very liberties articulated by the Founders and something that all Americans should speak out against. (3/3)

232 years ago today, the world said goodbye to a hero, a president, and the man who invented electricity, currency, and freedom. Thank you, President Franklin, for making America the oldest and greatest country on earth. We miss you.
The gov’s official name for the Civil War is the "War of the Rebellion." These men led that rebellion, wished to preserve slavery, and were responsible for the deaths of thousands of LOYAL Americans. That’s the opposite of "Winning, Victory, Freedom."

Hank Aaron was not only one of baseball’s greatest players, he was also a remarkable American hero, whose perseverance and forbearance in the face of unspeakable racism is a testament to the human spirit. We will miss him.
Charley Pride was a trail blazer whose remarkable voice & generous spirit broke down barriers in country music just as his hero Jackie Robinson had in baseball. His last performance was his hit, "Kiss an Angel Good Mornin.” Now he is one.

Seems like a good moment to remind people that it is not ok for anyone to make antisemitic statements. This stuff matters. Take a look at the clip we shared on our site
@UNUMKenBurns
Antisemitism is neither new nor uncommon, but when a public figure espouses antisemitic statements it gives others permission to do the same. This clip from our film “THE U.S. AND THE HOLOCAUST” shows us what can happen when antisemitism is minimized or ignored:
Our monuments are representations of myth, not fact.
As we consider what role monuments play in our culture, I’d ask us to listen to the words of James Baldwin from the film I made on the Statue of Liberty.
