Hi - quick clarification! This was slightly lost-in-translation. Iizuka-san was saying that Frontiers and Superstars take place at different times, i.e. Superstars happens much earlier than Frontiers. They’re still the same universe, just different points in their lives.
The interview with Iizuka ended with reconfirmation that Sonic Frontiers takes place in "a different timeline, different universe", so it has no connection with Sonic Superstars.
