It took 29 days for the EU to erode the Northern Ireland Protocol. Let it never be suggested again that the EU is the 'good faith' actor. Let's not pretend it's the party that cares about relations between NI and the Republic. Or that it values contracts, law or institutions.

David Lammy has suggested that the #BrexitDeal could lead to conditions seen "in the south side of Chicago." This June 52 people were shot in Chicago, 8 fatally, in one weekend alone. This is not a legitimate or helpful comparison. And it is certainly not thoughtful either.

Just to make sure I'm understanding the complaint here:. - Migrant X does 3-year degree.- X gets a job in sector with mass vacancies.- X works/pays tax for 5 years.- X gets Leave to Remain.- X waits 12 months, gets citizenship. X does 'whatever they want' after a 9-year process.

#Brexit has always been about exiting EU institutions. Now it’s about something bigger. It represents the simple & critical question: when I cast my vote will they listen, will the mandate be upheld?. Clearly lots of MPs don’t want to answer this. Especially not w/ another vote.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has failed to achieve the required number of votes for his motion for a general election.

Why not borrow £10trillion then? Or £20trillion? Or £100trillion? If investment always pays for itself?. Because *of course it doesn't* 🤪. The debt the Labour party would burden young people with to spend in the short term is, in my view, unethical.
Now Kate Andrews is lying about @UKLabour borrowing plans. The borrowing is for investment in the economy, which will produce a return of its own - taxpayers won't be paying it back. Disgusting that these liars get space on #PoliticsLive.

Labour haven’t learned a thing from 2019, have they?. This crass form of gender baiting won’t do anything to win back vital votes that went blue last December. And as an aside - perpetuating this deeply flawed idea that women can’t win if men are in the race is just the pits.
Labour leadership challenger @jessphillips has urged men to "pass the mic" on the top job, telling #Ridge it would "look bad" if Labour failed to elect a woman. More on the @RidgeOnSunday interview:

For people who left the country because they allegedly wanted to escape media attention. they really do love media attention.
NEW: In a Sunday night letter, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have written to editors of the four major British tabloids - The Sun, Daily Express, Daily Mirror and Daily Mail - promising never to work with them again, barring all access into the future. The letter in full:

Earlier this year Nadhim Zahawi told Sky News that ministers ‘have absolutely no plans for vaccine passporting’, branding the concept ‘absolutely wrong’. On BBC, he angrily dismissed talk of a dystopian world of vaccine passports as fantasy. They’d be ‘discriminatory’, he said.
NEW: From the end of September, entry to nightclubs and "other venues where large crowds gather" will be limited to those who are fully vaccinated, Nadhim Zahawi announces. Proof of a negative test will no longer be enough. Medical exemptions will be allowed.

Too many politicians have this awful attitude - that if people disagree with them, they *must simply be confused*. No lessons learned in over 2 years since the #Brexit vote. The biggest mistake now would be to not deliver on the result at all.

MPs had one job to do. We excused them on other major policy fronts, like housing and healthcare, to get Brexit done. We don’t need weeks to debate the #Brexitdeal. They should have spent more time reading, less pontificating, and gotten Brexit over the line.

As a woman, I am much more interested in protecting the right to free speech than I am in catering to the possibly-offended. If we are raising girls to feel damaged by a photo of a woman in a bikini, my goodness we need to do better.
@KateAndrs That is not curtailing free speech. That is protecting women from psychologically damaging marketing. As a woman, you should know this.

But Jessica Allen and Eliza Moore didn’t break the law. And the force is now reviewing its policy because of the appalling way in which these women were treated. Why is a Cabinet minister praising police for aggressively enforcing rules they made up on the spot?.
Health secretary Matt Hancock says he "absolutely will back the police" when asked about the £200 fine issued to two women who drove to a nearby beauty spot in Derbyshire for a walk adding that "every flex of the rules can be fatal".

There is no trade deal yet. There is nothing close to a trade deal yet. Why do Remainers (I use that term loosely) rightly advocate for free trade with the EU, but fearmonger about it with everyone else?.
Remember Johnson’s promise of £350 million a week for the NHS?. Well his toxic trade deal with Trump could hand over £500 million a week of NHS money to US drugs corporations. Labour will stop them. Our NHS is not for sale - to Donald Trump or anyone.

The #Brexitdeal Boris Johnson has secured is a good one. It *does* allow for free trade deals w/ other countries. It puts decision-making back in the heart of Westminster (and Stormont). It's just not no-deal, which is why Farage takes issue with it.

No, he’s siding with low income families, who are disproportionately harmed by Nanny State interventions. ‘Ordinary families’ want to make their own choices - whether that’s to be on a health kick or to order a Friday night pizza, they don’t need Government’s approval or input.
Boris Johnson is siding with big sugar over ordinary families trying to get healthy. Today I've challenged Health Secretary @matthancock to quit the Cabinet if his drive to tackle obesity is undermined by Johnson.

Lockdowns don't kill the virus, they suppress it temporarily. The pertinent question here is: what is Wales buying this time for? What actions will be taken in the next few weeks to improve circumstances for winter?.
Wales to go into "short sharp" lockdown from Friday until 9 November, with people told to stay home, while non-essential shops among businesses to close.

I’ll never forget sitting in the court room when the judge delivered his verdict in @darrengrimes_’s case - he tore @ElectoralCommUK apart, finding them wrong in fact & law. Their actions ruined years of Darren’s life - b/c he had the audacity to support Brexit. Some ‘mistake’.
Louise Edwards @ElectoralCommUK tells us that in the Darren Grimes case, they followed the processes fully to the letter, but that they made a mistake in the conclusion they drew in relation to what is an unincorporated association.

Women in the UK are not earning 15% less on average than men, as Rachel Reeves just suggested in her #LPC23 speech. That number combines full and part time workers, so is deeply misleading (in 2022 part-time female workers earned 3% more on average!)

Politics is rancid. Otherwise smart and reasonable people cannot engage on the issues. Worse, they tweet out things they know to be factually incorrect, thinking its justifiable b/c they're on the 'right side'. Top tip: if you're not reporting facts, you're on the wrong side.
It’s ‘based’ around the corner and is part of the nexus. We both understand this. You’re pretending not to. My tweet’s quite clear. You lobby & you boast about providing access to ministers while seeking donations. Jog on.
