Children will now be recognised within the statutory definition of Domestic Abuse. Always speak up and keep pushing. We now have one week to make sure all victims regardless of their status are protected. We can do this!
A huge thank you to all the campaigners and children's charities who spoke up to ensure children were included in the Domestic Abuse Bill, but mostly to the young people who joined our campaign... Yesterday I received this from the government....
There’s a long way to go before this Domestic Abuse Bill is finished. We’ve got to keep victims at the heart of every decision we make about what goes into this new law. We’ve got to keep listening to what survivors like this young person are saying to MPs. Please watch & share:
Please join us in our campaign to push the government to see only a victim infront of them when some one is hurt and scared and not which stamp is in their passport.

This would have more power if the CPS took it more seriously. 3 siblings separately gave statements to police about their abusive, social worker mother... outcome... zero!
@jessphillips
Am I right in reading that proposed govt amendment as not actually excluding recognition that a child can themself be a victim of domestic
#abuse
even if an adult in the household isn't, or doesn't complain of being? I'm hoping so.
@jessphillips
Finally, You have no idea how much this means, Made me actually cry at the age of 51, after witnessing and being subjected to domestic abuse as a child myself
✌️❤️
@jessphillips
I remember on Saturday nights in the 70s my cousins in their nighties and bare feet banging on our window crying and screaming for my mother to help their mother who was being attacked by their father. And my brother cried and begged my mother not to go. But she always did.
@jessphillips
It would be good if you could recognise the judicial abuse towards innocent children convicted useing the already discredited

doctrine. As well as life sentences for children

As a survivor I have unfortunately seen the lasting effects of DV on children. Didn't help that the police, CPS and victim support were less than crap!
@jessphillips
how this help families where the DA is solely emotional/controlling but no evidence yet the children continue to suffer through courts as the perp lies , false accusations ect ..yet has been affected since in the womb. suffered from age 15 to 50yrs but left 8.5 yrs ago
@jessphillips
This is great. Surprised
@FREEYOURMINDCIC

Fantastic news, Jess. The DA Bill must also address post separation abuse... this is facilitated via child contact, court hearings, non payment of maintenance etc. It’s very real. It’s very damaging. And in some cases, never stops.
