This is Neri Abalos and Randy Valdes.
Childhood friends. Neighbors. Residents of Pared village in Alacala.
Now considered heroes in their community.

Their story in this thread.
During the deluge, their neighbors — a mother and her son — were trapped in their house and called for rescue.
Neri and Randy heeded the call. They used Neri’s boat — which he saved up for and bought precisely for emergency use in their village.
Neri and Randy were able to reach their neighbors.
While on the boat and on the way back to safe ground, witnesses say there was a sudden jolt of electricity.
The community rallied and they were able to get to the mother and son and bring them to dry land.
Neri’s daughter gave CPR to the son. And saved his life. Both mother and son are alive and now recovering in a hospital.
Witnesses say Neri and Randy meanwhile were swept away by the flood after electrocution.
Two days later — their bodies were found.
Angelica, Neri’s daughter, says her father has always devoted his life to others.
“Wala ako magawa kasi ‘yung Papa ko hindi mapipigilan. Ilang baha na. Ni minsan hindi siya nagsarili. Sabi nila hero Papa ko. Pero wala na kami Papa.”

2 more good Filipinos who died that didn't have to if only the Duterte gov't gave a damn about its people. Ordinary folks are forced to step up because they have a conscience and can't just stand by when their fellowmen are in danger. Trapos meanwyl wine and dine and 'karaoke'.
