It belonged to various noble families until it was purchased by Ipswich Borough Council in 1894 and opened as Ipswich's first public park in 1895.

Collections will take place on your usual brown bin collection day.

Today, we pay tribute to former Mayor of Ipswich Dr. Albert Grant OBE who has sadly passed away aged 89. During 26 years as a Whitehouse ward councillor, he became the town's first Black mayor in 1995, and championed racial equality and community causes.
