If you have an injury or illness which requires urgent treatment that is not life threatening we urge you to #PHONEFIRST before travelling to an Emergency Department. You will be signposted to the most appropriate urgent care service for your needs - this may be GP Out of Hours, a Minor Injuries Unit, an Urgent Care Centre or an Emergency Department. For emergencies that are life threatening always call 999. #HSC #MakingADifference

Feeling under the weather? Most common infections can be treated at home with simple self-care steps. Get plenty of rest, stay hydrated, and use pain relief if needed. For sore throats and coughs, try honey or medicated lozenges. Eye and ear infections? A warm or cold flannel can help. Take care and recover faster! #SelfCare #StayWellThisWinter #HSCNI

💊 Do antibiotics help with a cold? Most colds and coughs are caused by viruses, which antibiotics can’t treat. Your pharmacist can help with symptom relief, and your GP can advise when antibiotics are necessary. Find expert advice near you: 🔗 #PharmacyFirst #Cold #HSCNI #AntibioticAwareness

Eating well is essential for maintaining a healthy weight, however if you have a poor appetite or have noticed unplanned weight loss the following advice may help. If you’re skipping meals, losing interest in food, or finding your clothes looser, these simple steps can help you get the most out of your meals without trying to eat more. 🧀 Choose full-fat dairy options 🥔 Add butter, cream, or cheese to meals 🥛 Drink whole milk and consider fortifying drinks 🍽️ Eat little and often – don’t skip meals If you are concerned speak to your GP. If you are already on a special diet or have swallowing problems please discuss with your GP or Dietitian Please see link for further information: #HSCNI #NutritionTips #HealthyEating #PublicHealth

Health Minister Nesbitt recently visited The Link Family & Community Centre in Newtownards. The Link have been working in partnership with McKay Pharmacy to support a group of adults with substance abuse issues. The Link work with vulnerable and at-risk individuals, many of whom experience deprivation, exclusion or loneliness. They provide a range of facilities, programmes and support for young people, older people, migrant workers as well as people experiencing chronic addiction to alcohol. The Link has received ÂŁ66,500 in funding through the Building the Community-Pharmacy Programme (BCPP) programme, over the last sixteen years. BCPP is funded by Department of Health NI and offers a unique opportunity for Community Pharmacy and local community groups to develop lasting relationships which improve the lives and health of local people. #hscni
