I am incredibly excited and humbled to announce I'll be part of the Polaris Program, and exciting effort to further humanity's exploration of the stars and address important issues here on Earth!
Teams are taking a closer look at a ground-side helium leak on the Quick Disconnect umbilical. Falcon and Dragon remain healthy and the crew continues to be ready for their multi-day mission to low-Earth orbit.
Next launch opportunity is no earlier than Wednesday, August 28 →
Dry-dress complete, Dragon Resilience looks beautiful inside! The new car smell was successfully removed by the SpaceX materials team during thermal vacuum chamber bake-out.
It’s dry-dress day! We’ll be walking through a full simulation of launch day, everything before loading fuel on the rocket. Can’t wait to be reunited with Resilience! 🐉🚀

Targeting Tuesday, August 27 for launch of Polaris Dawn, the first of the

The Polaris team conducted a flyover at Kennedy Space Center on Tuesday with Falcon 9 and Dragon vertical on pad 39A. Thanks to

Great summary of where we’re at, weather is going to be a challenge given launch and return requirements. Scrubbing for the next few launch opportunities, but ready to go once a weather window opens!
Our launch criteria are heavily constrained by forecasted splashdown weather conditions. With no ISS rendezvous and limited life support consumables, we must be absolutely sure of reentry weather before launching. As of now, conditions are not favorable tonight or tomorrow, so
Welcome home my friends, what an honor to support you on your journey! Congratulations to the
@SpaceX
@NASA
and
@esa
teams for such a smooth and successful mission!
Super excited to be flying research experiments from my alma mater
@CUBoulder
- the PI on this eye experiment was one of my bioastronautics professors! Sko Buffs! 🦬 💛
The Polaris Dawn crew will wear smart contact lenses in space to monitor their intraocular pressure, in efforts to learn more about Spaceflight Associated Neuroocular Syndrome, or SANS, as part of a University of Colorado Boulder research experiment.
This is just one of 36
I wanted to share some updates:
- The primary factor driving the launch timing for Polaris Dawn is the splashdown weather within Dragon's limits. Unlike an ISS mission, we don’t have the option to delay long on orbit, so we must ensure the forecast is as favorable as possible
Weightlessness is such an astonishing sensation! We had the opportunity to test out a number of our research experiments in one of the coolest space analog environments there is. Thank you
@johnkrausphotos
for capturing the joy and chaos of science in free fall!
The Polaris Dawn crew is here in Florida and launch is NET 7 days out - it has been the honor of a lifetime to befriend and work with this exceptional crew + team.
The real fun is just beginning with an ambitious Dragon mission ahead. 1400km, spacewalk, Starlink, science
I'll be serving as a Mission Specialist on the first mission, Polaris Dawn, targeted to launch no earlier than the 4th quarter of 2022. You can find out more about the ambitions program at .
Incredible week getting to see both our Dragon Spacecraft 🐉 (named Resilience!) and the entire
@SpaceX
team supporting the mission!
Clearly it takes a village to make human spaceflight happen, congratulations to the entire team for getting to this milestone!
There are so many lessons to be learned from mountaineering! This week we climbed Illiniza Norte and Cotopaxi in Ecuador, which was an awesome opportunity to exercise teamwork in an uncomfortable environment, and to challenge ourselves both physically and mentally.
I’m so excited to finally share this with the world: A Musician’s Guide to Reaching for the Stars! 💫
Inspired by my journey from violinist to engineer and astronaut, this is a fun educational resource to explore with your kids and students!

We definitely grew as a crew this week, not only reaching personal altitude records, but learning how we each respond to stress, how we acclimate to low-pressure environments, and how to support each other to achieve our objectives. I am so inspired by this crew!

Awesome photo essay capturing the two day study we recently performed at

teams to execute such a high fidelity test of our pre-breathe protocol!
In preparation for the Polaris Dawn mission’s planned spacewalk, the crew participated in a decompression sickness risk characterization study in the 20 Foot Chamber at NASA’s Johnson Space Center →
Curious about the science and research we will be performing on Polaris Dawn? Find out more now!
Although my ultrasound skills are still being perfected 😬, I am very excited to see what insights these studies may reveal to benefit both human spaceflight and life on earth!
New Interview: I have just released my interview with the whole
