π Huge congratulations to Braden Riley, a senior at @ReitzHighSchool, who won the Grand Prize at the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra's Young Artist Competition for the fourth time! His outstanding performance of Pablo de Sarasate's Zigeunerweisen, Op. 20 not only won him $2,000 but also highlighted his remarkable talent once again. We couldn't be prouder of your repeated success, Braden! Keep up the amazing work! π»πΆ

A message from Superintendent Dr. Smith: It is with a full heart and bittersweet emotion that I share my decision to retire from the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation, effective July 1, 2025. This school year marks my 43rd year with EVSC and my 14th year as superintendent. Reflecting on this journey, I am filled with gratitude for the countless experiences and relationships that have shaped my professional and personal life. After much prayer and thoughtful consideration, I feel it is the right time to take this step. Over the next six months, I look forward to continuing to work alongside our dedicated staff to support our students and ensure a smooth transition. I have every confidence in the EVSC Board of School Trustees to select a leader who will honor our mission and guide this exceptional organization into the future. Thank you for the privilege of being part of my journey in education throughout my career. It has been my honor to work in a community that is so committed to seeing students succeed. Together, we have achieved so much, and I will always carry these memories and accomplishments close to my heart. Sincerely, David B. Smith, EVSC Superintendent

The EVSC will be OPEN tomorrow (Monday, January 13th) on a 2 HOUR DELAY. This means buses will arrive and schools will begin two hours later than on a regular day. Due to remaining slick spots in certain neighborhoods, the Bus Office will notify some families on bus routes regarding adjustments where necessary. Please use caution, especially on city sidewalks and at bus stops. We look forward to seeing our students and staff back tomorrow!

The EVSC will be CLOSED on Thursday, January 9 due to the ongoing impact of the winter storm. We will determine the type of make-up day for this cancellation and announce that information at a later time. Please continue to stay safe. It's never too early to start planning for kindergarten enrollment! If you or someone you know has a child that will turn 5 years old on or before August 1st, check out our kindergarten enrollment information at Kindergarten enrollment opens on Monday, January 13th.

π΅π It's that time of the year! Our talented students and EVSC Fine Arts faculty come together in a moving performance of "Silent Night" for our annual holiday video. Watch as these incredible musicians bring this timeless classic to life, creating a beautiful moment that captures the spirit of the season. We hope you enjoy this annual tradition and take pride in being part of a community that champions educational excellence and meaningful experiences for all students. Special thanks to Trinity United Methodist Church for providing their beautiful space for this recording.
